Kyle and Ashley’s love story began on Hinge, where Ashley’s profile mentioned her love for speakeasies. Kyle saw it as the perfect conversation starter and messaged her with a few speakeasy recommendations in Lincoln. Ashley replied, “It’s a date”—and then didn’t message again until a day or two before the actual date. Feeling like it might be unusual not to talk beforehand, she asked Kyle to share a few things she should know about him. The most important thing he told her? That he loves the Lord. When they finally met in person, conversation came easily. They talked about their lives, their work, their faith, and their favorite music. At the end of the night, Kyle asked, “When can I see you next?”—something he would continue to do after every date. Their third date, a walk around Holmes Lake, was especially meaningful. It was the first time they were both truly vulnerable, sharing what they wanted in a relationship and where they saw their lives going. From there, things moved naturally. They started spending more time together, and about a month later, Kyle asked Ashley to be his girlfriend.Just two months into dating, Kyle left to finish his master’s program abroad in Guatemala and Spain for four months. It was a season full of uncertainty, but both Kyle and Ashley trusted that God had a plan. They FaceTimed nearly every day, read together, shared about their days, prayed, and waited patiently to be reunited. That time apart ended up being a blessing—it deepened their friendship and showedthem how strong their connection truly was. When Kyle came home, everything fell right back into place.A year and eight months after their first date, Kyle took Ashley on a walk through a prairie just outside of Lincoln. At the top of a hill, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him.
