From Maddie...


Alright, Im doing this Golden Girls style. PICTURE IT Christmas eve rehearsal 2019. I had just started working at First Christian Church in September, I had recently joined the worship team and still figuring out who everyone was. Abby (my MOH) and I were waiting for practice to start and she was telling me about this guy she was setting up with one of her friends. He worked/ volunteered at the church on the production team. She said he was going to be at practice so I said when he walks in to point him out. LET ME TELL YOU when Kyle walked in it was like a spotlight from heaven moment. The only thing I could think of was, Well shoot, dont set him up with your friend set him up with me! But I didnt say it and she did. But it didnt work out (yay)


JFast forward to like mid summer of 2020 ( we all know how the beginning of 2020 went) Kyle and I hadn’t had much, if any interaction other than myself playing on in the worship band and him, running sound. Fun fact! The first thing he ever said to me was on a Sunday in between the two services. He caught me in the back hallway and said, hey, youre a really good drummer but any chance you could play the cymbals a little quieter? I have yet to play them quieter :)


I had started to notice Kyle popping up everywhere and at everything. To make a long story short, from August 2020 to October 2020 I took every opportunity I could to talk to him and attempt to flirt. Abby started inviting both Kyle and I over to hang out, especially the after church lunches.


Our church decided to do an outdoor service in October and thats when I really stepped things up. Fast Forward to November 2020, in a staff meeting they had announced our staff Christmas party. We had to let them know in the next couple weeks whether we were bringing a plus one. I knew this was my moment so (after a lot of pep talks from Abby) I decided to ask him to be my plus one. He said yes! I was so excited. The next week he asked me on our first date (Olive Garden)


Three dates later We went back to his warehouse after dinner and played air hockey. While playing air hockey, I asked the important define the relationship question and the rest is history! The picture on this page is our first picture together, In Christmas sweaters (he hasnt worn the sweater since, I guess he got what he wanted!)
