Tristan was hanging out with two of our mutual friends whenever I started seeing him being posted to their social media. Growing up in the same town our whole lives, I was shocked to not have ever seen him before, so naturally I had to ask the friend who he was. She told me his name and said he was single too and put us in contact. Shortly after he added me on socials, I drew two boxes on a picture and it said “check yes or no if you think I’m cute”. Tristan being Tristan, he played along and checked yes. Honestly, we didn’t talk much after that. I thought he was so boring and we both were giving up on the dating scene for a while. Two weeks later, he was drinking with our friends when I got a text that said “our babies would be so cute” and the next day he asked to see me. This was hilarious to me because who says that? Anyway, the next day he picked me up with flowers and we went to get margaritas. It was like we knew each other already, neither of us skipped a beat the whole time and we were instantly comfortable. Whenever he dropped me off at home, we sat outside of my house talking for hours. We just couldn’t get away from each other. Exactly 1 week later he asked me to be his girlfriend. 3 months later we moved in together and let me tell you, this is not for the weak. This tested our relationship heavily, we truly resented each other for a long time. Eventually, Tristan left for Colorado for a week and whenever he came back it was like a new relationship. The honeymoon phase restarted and we have ultimately been at our healthiest since then. It’s been a year since then and we are the happiest we’ve been in our entire lives. He was with me as I finished college, we went on vacation together, adopted a dog, got a house, a new car, and new jobs. We are settling in to all the changes perfectly. We truly believe that our lowest points brought us to our highest points. Our love runs deeper than I ever expected it to and we are over the moon to celebrate that love with everyone we love around us.
