Our Wedding

Kylie and Jackson met on March 27, 2021 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Newman Center; the two were attending the 41st Koinonia (Greek for 'community') retreat, which Kylie was helping lead. On the second day (Saturday) of the retreat, the two were randomly assigned spots next to each other at the breakfast table and chatted during breakfast. The two bonded over being 'business kids' at Newman, of which there seemed to be very few.

A few weeks later, on April 22nd, Kylie invited Jackson to go to the 1867 bar in Lincoln with a few of her friends. In an act of spontaneity, Kylie invited Jackson to attend a trip to the Ozarks (her hometown) with her friend group in May. In June after the trip, Kylie and Jackson started talking every day; the two made it official on August 24, 2021.

Over the course of their relationship, the two have enjoyed going to the movie theater, having reading sessions, attending art museums, public libraries, and local grocery stores, and visiting different Catholic Churches. On occasion, Kylie will (begrudgingly) join Jackson in watching a football game on TV (though she *loves* to see her team win!).

On January 3, 2025, Jackson took Kylie to their second date spot, the Linden Estates Gazebo. In July 2021, Kylie had brought Jackson Chick-Fil-A during his internship lunch hour, and the two had a nice break as Kylie geared up to start her first real job. It was here where Jackson got down on his knee and proposed to Kylie! And so began engagement and their new life together!

You’ll find Margaritaville just down the road from where Kylie grew up with a beautiful view and luxurious lodging. To book accommodations using our reservation block, please call the number above. The Becker-Bartak Wedding Room Block will be held for our guests until August 15th. After this date, unbooked rooms will be released and availability will depend on the vacancy of the resort.

Travel

Kylie and Jackson’s wedding ceremony will take place in the context of a Catholic Nuptial mass. Out of respect and reverence for our Lord, please silence your devices and refrain from using them or taking photos in the church.  The procession and ceremony will start promptly at 2 PM and we recommend arriving early to find a seat. Guests who arrive at 2 PM or later must wait for the wedding party to finish taking their seats before finding their own seat.  Relatives of the bride and groom are kindly asked to hang around the church immediately following the ceremony to be included in family photos.
