Our Wedding

It all started in December 2017, during our senior year of high school. We met through a mutual friend, but with Kylie set to graduate a semester early and leave for college in January, she didn’t think starting a relationship was the best idea. Jack, however, was persistent—and eventually, we decided to give it a shot. The first nine months of our relationship were long-distance, but somehow, we made it work. Our first date was at Creamistry, which Kylie later learned was Jack’s go-to first-date spot—it was strategic because if things went south, the date could be short. Luckily, she was his last first date. Jack moved to Dallas to attend Brookhaven, but then COVID threw a wrench in all plans, leading him to transfer to the University of Arkansas at Monticello—cue more long distance. Our relationship became a series of weekend visits, FaceTime calls, and lots of patience. After Jack graduated and landed a job in Dallas, Kylie decided to take a leap of faith and move back to Dallas, where we officially started our post-grad life together. One thing we always talked about throughout our relationship was getting a goldendoodle. In December 2023, we made that dream a reality and welcomed Bear, our crazy, full-of-energy pup who has brought so much joy (and chaos) into our lives. The Proposal – Jack’s PerspectiveI had been thinking about buying the ring for a while, but by February 2024, I knew the time was right. In true Jack fashion, I didn’t actually buy it until May, meaning it wouldn’t be ready until July. I was so excited (and terrified) once I had the ring—I kept checking the box to make sure it hadn’t magically disappeared. Then came the challenge of hiding it…which, according to Kylie, I put very little thought into, as it sat in my desk drawer just two feet from where she worked. As for the proposal, I knew I wanted it to happen in Austin—somewhere private, with a beautiful view, and a place we could always revisit with a smile. I needed a plan to get us there, so I had my family “plan a baby shower” as a reason to make the trip. Once we arrived, I knew Kylie would want to eat at The Grove, but I had to convince her to go to the Westlake location. During dinner, our good friend Paul called Kylie, telling her the water hose had been left on at his pool and asking if she could turn it off. When we arrived, sure enough, the hose wasn’t on—but that’s when I got down on one knee and proposed on the back patio. I don’t even remember the words that came out of my mouth, but it was such a special moment that we will cherish forever. With the help of our incredible family and friends, we followed up the proposal with an engagement party, celebrating with all our loved ones. Since then, we’ve built a life in Dallas, met some amazing people, and truly found a place that feels like home. We are so excited for what’s to come and cannot wait to celebrate our love with all of you!
