Our Wedding

It all started months before Daevin moved back to Victoria for school... One evening, while scrolling through Facebook, Daevin came across a post on the Victoria Christian Housing page of a cute, adventurous girl with the most amazing curly blonde hair looking for a place to live. He had joked to himself that when back in Victoria, he’d find her and marry her one day... Months went by and the Facebook girl had become a distant memory. On one Saturday afternoon, Daevin felt the urge to go back to a Saturday night church that his first roommate brought him to previously. The service was good, but it was what happened after that was really surprising. Unlike his usual, introverted self, Daevin stayed afterwards to talk to people, including one younger guy he had never met. After chatting for a bit, he invited Daevin to come to a Sunday evening church service aimed at young adults the next day. That evening came around and Daevin actually took the stranger up on his offer and went to the 2nd new church (What?!?). There, he met a small group of friends and was invited to hang out with them afterwards. Daevin continued to go to the evening service with his new friend group, and after a couple of weeks, he was added to their group chat. Now for the best part, when looking to see who else was in that group he saw the last member of the friend group (who had been away the previous few weeks); the cute Facebook girl, Kylie Schwenneker. When Kylie came to church the next Sunday, they officially met and it was love at first sight! The rest is history, Daevin and Kylie instantly had a spark, spending more time together that first week than they did apart. That summer was packed with motorcycle rides, beach days, and Costco trips!

The Proposal

On Valentine's Day, Daevins gift to Kylie was a little notebook with simple instructions on the first page, "You'll get a hint, tell me where to drive and when we take a picture there you get a surprise." Each location on the scavenger hunt was a place with special meaning.

The first location was a duck pond not far from Kylies house. We often go for walks there and spend time feeding the hundreds of ducks that surround us.

Next was a trip downtown to take a picture in front of the church where we met. We no longer attend this church but it holds a special place in our hearts.

The same evening we first met our group of friends decided to go for milkshakes and a beach fire afterwards. This was Kylies first chance to take an inconspicuous selfie with the new cute boy she had to tell her Mom about.

Just down the road is a point surrounded by ocean on 3 sides. For our first motorcycle ride and a few times after this has been a preferred spot to go and watch the ocean while we share a chair meant for 1.

The final stop was to re-create a photo we had taken over a year ago. The original photo wasn't centered quite right so Daevin had Kylie stand in the middle while he centered the phone perfectly, taking time to ensure it was on video and not a delayed photo as Kylie expected. After posing for what felt like an eternity, Daevin got down and on one knee and asked the question, will you marry me Kylie.

Evan was one of the first friends Daevin met in Victoria, a fellow mech. engineering student, motorcycle rider and roommate for a couple years

Josie has been Kylie's close friend since they were 14! They went to youth together, worked their first jobs at McDonalds together, and remained close despite their long-distance friendship over the last 4 years.

Mason and Daevin met early on in his time in Victoria, becoming good friends through church events and eventually started dating roommates Kylie and Grace

Since her second year of university, Grace and Kylie have been inseparable. From best friends to roommates, they spent many late nights bonding over homework, their taste in music, and Jesus.
