Kyra and Andrew's story began when they were introduced by a mutual friend at a Detroit Lions football game in November 2018. After hitting it off, they officially started dating in December 2018. In August 2019, they started dating long distance when Kyra moved to Chicago to live with two of her college friends and now bridesmaids.

During COVID-19, Kyra came home to Michigan for several months, which ultimately gave them more quality time together. After many road trips back and forth between Metro Detroit and Chicago, Andrew joined Kyra in Chicago in June 2021. They now enjoy exploring new restaurants, attending concerts, street festivals, and cheering on their favorite sports teams—the Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Lions—all while enjoying everything else Chicago has to offer.
