Our Wedding

It all started back in 2009 when we first crossed paths in the courtyard of the Kappa Sigma house at the University of Utah. Matt and a friend from high school were carrying around a tray of Jell-O shots. Matt made a strong argument for trying all flavors, and I fell to the peer pressure. Three shots and a beer from his drawstring bag later, we had become friends. Our first time hanging out together was on a group trip to the Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. This is when our friends will tell you we met. During this trip, we discovered our birthdays were back to back. We decided we would exchange a bottle and take a shot at midnight. This is a 16 (and counting) year old tradition that we look forward to every year. (Ask about the first bottle, in 2009) Over the years, life took us in different directions—Matt traveled the world while I worked on my master’s degree—but we always found our way back to each other. By 2017, we were both back in Utah and began dating. When in 2017? Neither of us know. One day we woke up and we were dating. In January 2022, we moved into our first apartment together with our two cats: Her Majesty Princess Jess, Aka Miss Kitty and Dude. Even though Dude has since passed, we love our little family and our time together. We began traveling throughout the country and went on our first international trip to Iceland. Iceland inspired us to take a chance on an exciting adventure and move to a new city. We spent the year visiting friends and family all over the country, but there was one place that we kept going back to: Chicago. On July 1, 2023, Matt and I moved our family to a small apartment over looking Michigan Avenue and the Riverwalk. We had a direct view of the Chicago Tribune Building, which was a long held dream of Matt. On September 2, 2024, Matt took me on my favorite walk in the city. We walked down the River Walk to the Lakefront Trail in front of the Shed Aquarium. While taking a video, Matt got on one knee and proposed. “Are you fking serious?” (Translation: Omg yes! I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you! I love you!) We celebrated with a photoshoot, dinner at Nobu and a trip to the Dominican Republic. Now we’re enjoying our engagement season, surrounded by the people we love, and counting down the days until we say “I do” on May 16, 2026. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you!

The Dever’s Wedding: Funky Garden Formal

Prepare for your red carpet debut: rich color, bold fashion, and a touch of drama. Formal attire is requested: tuxedos or colorful suit jackets, colorful formal dresses or jumpsuits. Please avoid white, black, cream, beige, gold or any light shade that could appear white in different lighting or with flash. Avoid outfits that are primarily white. Please do not wear all black. Relaxed, polished, and colorful. Sundresses, jumpsuits, matching sets, blouses, and jeans are all welcome. Please avoid athleisure. We encourage bright, cheerful colors- skip white, black, or outfits that are mostly white or black. 🌸

Carolyn and Lee’s Boat Party: Colorful Cocktail Attire

Guests are invited to wear refined cocktail attire in vibrant, elevated tones. Colorful cocktail dresses, elevated jumpsuits, statement jackets, and polished shirts. Please refrain from wearing jeans, shorts, flip flops, or casual sandals. Please avoid black, white, and majority black or white outfits.
