Taylor Trumbo - Matron of Honor
Taylor and Laney met when they were about 3 years old in dance class at Dancin' Feet in Lewisville, Texas. The two were inseparable since that day. They grew up together, were cheerleaders at Flower Mound High School together, and continued dancing side by side at Dancin' Feet. After graduating from high school, Taylor went out to Cal State Long Beach in Long Beach, California, and Laney went to UC Berkeley in Berkeley, California. Although they were a five hour drive from each other, their friendship never changed. Laney stood next to Taylor as her Maid of Honor when Taylor married her prince charming on April 1, 2017, so it was only fitting that Taylor stand beside Laney as her Matron on Honor on her big day!
Andrew Chappell - Best Man
Chappie and I first met freshman year at Southwestern while living on Ruter 3. We ended up pledging together as Phi Delts, and have been part of the same group of brothers ever since. We both went to Texas Tech to play Little Big Planet on PS2 and watch Tech football while doing post-grad work. Chappie has been the glue to our pledge class and a huge encouraging influence in my life, and I'm excited that Chappie has accepted the role as best man.
Lisa Chan - Maid of Honor
Laney and Lisa met in their first year of college at UC Berkeley during recruitment. They both ended up pledging Delta Gamma and moved into the sorority house after the first semester. The two lived together in the sorority house for most of their four years at Berkeley. After college, Laney moved back to Texas for law school but vowed to see Lisa at LEAST once a year back in their college town. Lisa and Laney now have more than just their college years in common since Lisa is in her last year of law school at Berkeley and will be finishing the California Bar Exam just TWO days before the wedding. When choosing a Maid of Honor, there was no else that Laney could imagine filling that role.
Dustin Staloch - Groomsman
Dusty is my Phi Delt big brother and have been incredible friends over the last 12 years. We decided to live together after I accidentally graduated college early. We spent long hours working at Casa Ole and drinking at the finest drinking establishment in Georgetown, Applebee's. After deciding this wasn't quite what our SU education prepared us for, Dustin went off to med school and I to law school. Dustin has been an incredible influence in my life and I'm so happy that he will be here to share in the beginning of my and Laney's new adventure.
Payne Hellums - Bridesmaid
It is not possible to write everything down that these two have gone through together because Payne and Laney have known each other Laney's whole life. Payne is technically Laney's cousin. Their mothers are sisters - but Payne has always been the big sister that Laney never had. Although Laney grew up in Flower Mound, Texas and Payne in Lubbock, the two have always shared a special bond. Every time Laney was in Lubbock for the holidays, Payne would take her around in her Jeep, introduce her to all of her friends, and let her come to all the cool high school parties with her! Laney stood next to Payne as her bridesmaid in Destin, Florida in 2015, so there was no question that she would be Laney's bridesmaid as well.
Jordan Baker - Groomsman
Jordy Poo and I met first year of college on Ruter 3. Jordan always struck me as the "cool kid" and I was glad we had our friendship in our early years of college. Jordan ended up giving me the incredible honor of being my little brother in Phi Delt, and throughout the years we have countless memories together. Jordan's sense of humor and willingness to go with the flow have influenced me in so many ways.
Chris Roarty - Groomsman
Another Ruter 3 hallmate, Roarts and I probably first met during soccer tryouts (where I failed miserably, and Chris actually made the team). Throughout our time in college, I was always impressed by Chris' intellect and friendship and am proud to count him among my friends. Through trips to Houston for new years and "couples massages" between partying and my Pedialyte needs, Chris has been with me for some awesome memories, and I'm glad that he'll be by my side for the newest and greatest.
Paige Bobo - Bridesmaid
Similar to Payne, Paige is technically Laney's cousin but the two have always considered each other (and sometimes mistaken for) sisters. When Laney was in high school, Paige moved to Denton for a year of college. Laney can remember Paige teaching her to drive in her yellow mustang and coming over every Wednesday night to watch Jessica and Nick's "Newlyweds" show. When Laney moved back to Lubbock, Paige and Laney spent their famous "21 summer" gallivanting around Lubbock as Paige showed Laney the Lubbock ropes. Laney was Paige's bridesmaid in 2013 as she married the love of her life and has never thought once that Paige would not be there as her bridesmaid on her big day, too!
Sarah Ward - Bridesmaid
Sarah and Laney's friendship started when they were in high school at Flower Mound. Laney was a Freshman cheerleader and Sarah was on the Junior Varsity squad. Although the friendship started out filled with some silly drama, the two became best friends quickly after. After high school, Sarah went to OU, but the two remained close chatting on the phone for hours and visiting each other occasionally. Once Laney moved back to Lubbock, they got to see each other more and more because Sarah travels to Lubbock for work. Laney (and Spenser) were so thrilled when Sarah married Blake in September and were so happy to be there to celebrate with them!
Nick Hutchens - Groomsman
Capital Pizza. Independence Day. Alienz. Endless GIFs. Nick and I met during law school and have way too many stories to tell about each other. Nick is my go to for sports and our mutual political dislikes, as well as commiserating about our failing USMNT and general Nothing Matter's. Nick is always there to support me, no matter what the situation. I am honored Nick will be by my side on our wedding day, even if I am marrying a FloMo girl (love you, Lane!).
Brittany Weaver - Bridesmaid
Brittany and Laney met in law school at Texas Tech when they were both in Section 2 during their first year but really became best friends during their second year. The pair always shared notes and outlines even though Brittany was way smarter and always had way better notes. Going through some difficult times that came during law school allowed Laney and Brittany's friendship to grow closer than ever. Even though Brittany's big time lawyer job offer took her to Fort Worth and away from Lubbock, Laney and Brittany have maintained a special friendship that will never end. Laney was so excited to ask Brittany to be in the wedding and even more thrilled when she said yes!
Carlos Cardenas - Groomsman
Carlos might be the smartest and dumbest person I've ever met in my entire life, not to mention a decent bowler. I say all of that with the utmost respect. Carlos was an extreme positive influence to me in college, and remains so to this day. His work ethic and intellect are something I could only aspire to achieve in my life. Through college and our adult lives, Carlos has been there for me no matter what.
Courtney Frappier - Bridesmaid
Court and Laney met in their younger years at McKamy Middle School but really became friends in high school (when Taylor finally thought Laney was cool enough to let her hang out with "her friends" haha). Court got her drivers license before everyone and would always drive Laney to the football games and to Whataburger after! Courtney moved to Florida for college and then to New York, but Laney and Courtney have always maintained a friendship that has always been very special to Laney. Laney is so thrilled that Courtney will be standing next to her on her big day!
Harrison Reynolds - Groomsman
Harrison and I went to high school together, but probably actually became friends after watching Da Ali G Show together and realizing our senses of humor were inappropriate but also very similar. I appreciate Harrison's zest for life, fine cuisine and a good glass of scotch. We've had so many memories together, and I know that there are so many more to come. I'm honored that Harrison will be by my side on July 28.
Jonathan Sullivan - Groomsman
Sully and I essentially grew up together, playing soccer and going to the same schools. Through soccer trips to Dallas, and Sully tour-guiding me around Central Europe, we have countless memories together. Sully has been an incredible friend to me for so many years and I am honored that Sully will be with me for me and Laney's next adventure.
Kiara Mitchell - Bridesmaid
Laney really wanted to ask Kiara to be her flower girl but was quickly reminded that Kiara is not five years old anymore ;) Kiara is Jana Mitchell's daughter, Laney's long time dance teacher, mentor, second mom, etc. Laney has always teased Kiara about two things: (1) Laney knew her mom before she did; and (2) Even though Kiara is of the legal drinking age, Kiara will forever be 5 years old to Laney. But for real - Laney has known Kiara since she was born and watched her grow up and go off to college. Laney was thrilled when Kiara became a Delta Gamma at Alabama! As Kiara got older, Laney and Kiara began a friendship that far exceeded the little sister vibe that their relationship had before and Laney is so thrilled that she will be a part of her wedding day.
Victoria Johnson - Bridesmaid
Victoria is Laney's cousin and a fellow Red Raider! When Victoria told the family that she would be moving to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech, Laney was thrilled. Laney and Victoria both grew up in the DFW area. Laney remembers spending her Tuesday and Thursday afternoons coaching Victoria's mini cheerleading team and attending their performances. When it came to choosing bridesmaids, there was no question that Laney wanted to include Victoria on her special day. Laney is thrilled that Victoria will be standing beside her as she marries Spenser!
D. Charlton "Dane" Norman - Groomsman
Although I knew Dane in law school, we didn't really get close until our mutual (temporary) unemployment after taking the bar exam. We watched movies, shared Dane's incredible craft beer, and planned out our next moves. Dane is a friend who will drop anything to help a friend out, and I'm forever appreciative of everything that Dane has done for me (without even expecting a thank you).
