Our Wedding

We first met as high school sophomores! This was before we could drive, and long before we truly understood what it meant to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Back then, we were just two kids who happened to share a class, laughed at each other’s jokes, and found an easy, instant friendship. As the holidays approached that year, that friendship quietly deepened, and we began dating just a few months before the world changed with COVID-19. While everything else shut down, our relationship grew closer through proximity and intentional time together. Looking back, we can clearly see that this timing was no accident, as it was definitely a God-ordained season that solidified our bond.	From the very beginning, Christ was an important part of our story, but over time, He became the true foundation of our relationship. We were young and knew who God said He was, but we did not intimately KNOW God. However, the Lord refines and truly made a way like He always does! We can confidently say that every fiber of our being wants to bring Him glory. We love the Lord more than we love each other, and we have come to learn that we love best when we love Him first.	The love we both feel is something that is deeper than a partnership and is truly that of a best friend. Austin makes Laney laugh until she cries and carries a childlike faith into every moment. Laney helps Austin stay grounded, bringing both organization and discernment rooted in the Lord.	Above all that we bring to each other, we strive to sharpen one another to become more like Jesus every day. We do not take lightly that we have found a love so selfless and holy at such a young age. We know it is a blessing from God. We are deeply thankful to walk through this life together, and are confident that our covenant has an eternal purpose. It is a true honor to be loved and to love well. Our hope is that we live this life in complete surrender, as it was never ours to begin with! 	1 John 4:19: "We love because he first loved us".

If you're in the mood for some shopping or a great meal, you have to head over to The Summit. It’s a huge outdoor mall where you can find all the big names like Trader Joes, Alo, and Lululemon. If you get hungry, there is a plethora of restaurants and there is even an AMC theater, if you want to catch a movie.

If you’re looking to get outdoors while you’re here, check out Moss Rock Preserve. There are about 12 miles of trails to explore, ranging from easy walks to more rugged hikes. Once you’re finished hiking, you can walk right across the street to The Preserve neighborhood for pizza and gelato. It’s the perfect way to spend a few hours!

If you’re looking for a spot that blends sports, games, and a great atmosphere, Fairway Social is the place to go. It has Full Swing simulators where you can play everything from world-class golf and football to soccer and even zombie dodgeball. For a cooler, more exclusive vibe, you can head to The Lodge, their hidden 21+ speakeasy in the back that features duckpin bowling and craft cocktails. It’s a perfect spot for a fun group outing or a casual night out.

This zoo is a 122-acre park, so bring your walking shoes, and try to get there early in the morning when the animals are most active. It’s home to over 500 animals. You can also see lions, giraffes, and a brand-new jaguar named Diego.

Right across the street from the Zoo is the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, and it is easily one of the most beautiful spots in the city. It’s completely free to enter. There are 67 acres of themed gardens to walk through. It’s a great place for a quiet morning stroll or a picnic on the lawn.

If you’re here on a Saturday morning, Pepper Place is the place to be. It’s a historic district that hosts the city’s premier Farmers Market from 7 AM to noon (rain or shine). You’ll find local produce, live music, and incredible breakfast finds like fresh pastries and locally roasted coffee.

Located near the downtown entertainment district, Topgolf is a high-energy spot for both golfers and non-golfers alike. You’ll play from climate-controlled hitting bays (so it's great in any weather) and use microchipped balls that track your accuracy and distance on massive outfield targets. It’s essentially "darts for golf." They have a full-service restaurant and bar, a rooftop terrace, and plenty of giant screens to catch the game.

Attire is a bit of a Garden Party meets a Southern Wedding!Dress to stay cool, comfortable, and photo-ready. Think all the bright, happy colors of a summer mixed with a backyard hangout… but just a little more dressed up! Women: Long, flowy dresses in summer colors—patterned, floral, or simply fun. Aim for semi-formal with a summer twist.Men: Suits, please! Ties are encouraged for that classic Southern touch. (Extra credit for a light or colorful suit. HAHA!) And one gentle reminder: please save the classic whites for the bride and groom.
