Cody and Lara met in the most modern, non-romantic way possible; Bumble. It was spring of 2021 and after a couple messages back and forth, Cody asked Lara on a first date. They agreed to meet up at the local sushi restaurant.


Cody brought Lara flowers, they ate sushi and learned about each other. They bonded over the most niche similarities like eggs benedict being their favorite breakfast and Casamigos being their favorite tequila. After dinner, they decided to move to a local bar for some drinks and even made plans for a second date of going to the gym together the next day...and a third date of a Gettysburg distillery...and a fourth date of a double date at a brewery...


“The rest is history” is such a cliché but it perfectly encapsulates their story. Lara knew within hours of the first date that she was going to marry Cody. She even dried and kept the flowers he brought her that day. They never spent another day alone after that.


Their first weekend getaway was to Havre de Grace, Maryland to celebrate Lara’s birthday. That getaway happened just weeks after meeting but really solidified the relationship. They fell deeply in love while eating good food, meeting new people, and seeing the gorgeous views of the lighthouse downtown. This is where Cody ended up proposing, while Lara was trying to set up her phone to re-create a picture they took on their first trip there.


Between birthdays, more vacations to Havre de Grace, Florida, and Cancun, celebrating friends’ and families’ accomplishments and milestones, Cody buying his first home, and everything in between, Cody and Lara have continued to grow together and become a team.
