A palette of color awaits you as you wind along the entrance to Holland's treasured island. Tour five stories of the DeZwaan windmill, the only authentic Dutch windmill operating in the United States. From the top, you can survey the park's 36 acres of manicured gardens and natural areas. Costumed guides, an Amsterdam street organ, a hand-painted Dutch carousel, several Dutch exhibits and replicas, and a gift shop stocked with Dutch goodies and local souvenirs will complete your visit. Known for thousands of tulips each spring, the gardens are replanted with annuals and feature a dazzling display all season long. Holland State Park is one of Michigan's most visited state parks. Once you take a look at the beautiful beach or take in a sunset over Lake Michigan, you'll know why! The expansive beach is open to all who have purchased a day pass or a Recreation Passport. View Big Red Lighthouse directly across the channel to the south, or take a stroll north along the beachfront. Holland State Park offers fishing, a boat launch, a concession stand with modern restrooms and changing area, a small playground and camping. During peak hours (weekends, holidays), we recommend to arrive early.

Downtown Holland Social District

Downtown Holland Social District hours are Monday through Sunday from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm. The social district is not open during Downtown Holland parades.

As part of the Social District, patrons ages 21+ can purchase an alcoholic beverage from a participating establishment and consume it outdoors on the sidewalk. Please be aware of the following rules so that the social district can continue to be enjoyed safely:

Alcoholic beverages cannot be brought into the social district from home or from any establishment other than those listed here.

Alcoholic beverages must be in approved cups only, which must have both the Downtown Holland Social District sticker and the name of the establishment clearly visible.

Alcoholic beverages can only be consumed on the public sidewalk (ie: the commons area) located within the boundaries. Beverages cannot be consumed in the road, in parking lots, on private property or in any parks or green spaces. Alcoholic beverages cannot be removed from the boundary area.

You may not enter another dining establishment, retail store, outdoor dining area, private park, or any other private business with an alcoholic beverage that you have purchased at an approved social district establishment.

Please help keep Downtown Holland clean and dispose of your cup in a proper recycling receptacle!
