Forever Keys
Forever Keys
We met at the Heart of God during the pandemic. One night after Bible study, Bishop called me over to ask what I do, in reference to ministry. I told him, I have a heart for the youth, as I had been working with them throughout the years. He called Keith Keys over and introduced us and we had a short convo. Later that evening, I went home and looked him up on Facebook (I am cracking up right now). I found that, other than reading and eating, Keith really lives this youth thing out! So, I friend requested him, and he accepted my request. I started a conversation with him via messenger and our friendship began to grow a little bit. He would come pick me up for church, take me to the stores when I needed to go shopping (because my car was hit and totaled). Spending bits of time with him was good because we were able to get to know each other. As time passed, I was still hurting from my past-church hurt, so I sat out of church for a while.
During that time, God began dealing with the matters of my heart. Me, myself and I. I was tired of the revolving doors in my life that took me nowhere. So, God put me on a 30-day plant based fast, delivered me from soul ties, trauma bonds and taught me to forgive without an apology. The fast turned into 60 days. Id lost 26 pounds, my phone was dry as the Saharah desert and I began to love me, see myself in a different light. I valued myself, and I told God that I was ready for my husband.
He led me back to the Heart of God and it was there, Keith and I reunited. We worked through a LOT! There were mindsets, thoughts processes, and ideals that needed to be changed. Fears needed to be released; the past had to become the past. I know I wore Bishop, Pastor Linda, my mom and sisters out! All in all, we realized through our journey, we needed to let go and allow God to do what He was already doing from the beginning.
3 years passed. Keith texted me, clear your schedule for Saturday, June 22nd, and wear your sneakers. For those who know me knows that I am a girly girl, and I do NOT like sneakers. Especially knowing that Im going on a date, I wanna be cute with shoes, not sneakers. LAWD! Anyway, I got my outfit together but wasnt feeling well the day before, so Keith changed his plans and told me I can dress how I wanted. I was utterly confused, but happy at the same time because I could wear some cute sandals. LOL!
Saturday, June 22nd came, and he met me at my place, picked me up and we were out. First of all, he rented a car with muscle (glowray!!) Were killing the highway, dope RnB play list, holding hands and singin a lil sumn and Im noticing that weve passed DC, Maryland, and Welcome to Virginia, Virgina is for Lovers. So, Im like, babe where are you taking me?
Keith: North Carolina
Me: ummm, no you aint thats too far to be driving and we have to go to church in the morning.
Keith: cracking up, were stopping here, are you hungry?
Me: yes
So, he found a steak house. We ate, had convo, but in the back of my head Im thinking what is he doing??
We left the restaurant, and he turned my attention to some stores and asked if I wanted to go. He didnt have to ask twice. LOL!! So, I said, let me put my food and stuff in the car. He unlocks the car and Im struggling to get the seat down to place my stuff in the back. So, I asked him to help me, and he told me to turn around so that he can show me how to do the seat. When I turned around, he was on his knee asking me to marry him. Yall! I almost fainted LOL! With tears in my eyes, I said, yes! I was speechless. Needless to say, we called our family and close friends. It was definitely worth the wait!
I entitled this, Unexpected because, this friendship, respect and love we have for one another has been just that. Unexpected.
I am so blessed to have this MAN in my life.
