Our Wedding

Sometimes, love enters our lives when we least expect it, gently reminding us that the best things happen in their own time. For Rick and Laura, that moment came on February 11, 2023 They met through an online dating site, both hesitant and uncertain of what lay ahead. Rick was finding his way forward after the loss of his wife, Becky, and Laura had grown comfortable in her independence after years of being on her own. Neither expected that a simple first meeting would lead to a love they both had been quietly longing for.   Their first date was at Gruene River Grill in Gruene, Texas, a place that quickly became special to them. Rick, ever the gentleman, was waiting outside when Laura walked up, beer in hand, her easy confidence lighting up the moment. Rick still says it was “a good sign.” Over dinner, Laura casually suggested they split the shrimp and grits. Rick’s surprised expression—equal parts shock and amusement—was one Laura will never forget. Through laughter, conversation, and a shared meal, something undeniable began to bloom between them. From that night on, their connection was effortless and unshakable.   For Laura, the journey into love wasn’t without its challenges. She had spent so much time building a life of independence and protecting herself from heartache that trust felt like a mountain to climb. She often confided in her friends, saying, “I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop.” But Rick, with his gentle patience and steadfast kindness, never faltered. He quietly and consistently showed her that love doesn’t have to be complicated—it can be steady, true, and full of grace. Slowly, Laura’s walls came down, and with them, she found a love that made her feel safe, cherished, and whole.   For Rick, Laura brought light and joy back into his life, a renewal of the laughter and happiness he hadn’t realized he’d been missing. She reminded him that it’s never too late to dream, to hope, and to believe in the beauty of life’s second chances. Together, they’ve created a bond rooted in compassion, faith, and a deep understanding of one another—a love that feels like home.   Rick and Laura truly believe that God has a plan and that He brings people into our lives for a reason. Every twist and turn in their individual journeys had been preparing them for one another, and they see their meeting as a divine gift. As Laura so beautifully puts it, “Every step I took was leading me On My Way to You.”   Now, with six amazing children, four beautiful grandchildren, and a growing family of sons- and daughters-in-laws, Rick and Laura feel deeply blessed. They look forward to building a life filled with love, laughter, and the kind of cherished memories that only grow richer with time.   Their story is a testament to the beauty of second chances and the healing power of love. As they prepare to say “I do,” Rick and Laura are overwhelmed with gratitude for the journey that brought them together and the future that lies ahead.   Their story isn’t perfect, but it’s beautifully theirs—a reflection of love, faith, and hope. They can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of you, surrounded by the family and friends who have supported them along the way. Here’s to a love story that was always meant to be.
