Who would have ever guessed? Nate and Laura met at the gym. Not because Nate took one of Laura's fitness classes (he tried that later on and it didn't go so well), nor did he attempt to talk to her in person. Rather, he decided to send Laura a DM via Instagram. Laura was on the treadmill and Nate was lifting in the gym. A notification pops up on Laura's phone, "Why do they keep the gym so damn cold?" Laura chuckled a little, looked around the gym and saw a guy on his phone. She quickly responded with "Who knows, but it's like an arctic tundra in here."
And yep, that really broke the ice...
Then the conversations began and really didn't stop. Instagram messages were the main means of communication for the longest time. A message here and there turned into Laura checking her phone every 5 minutes to see if Nate had sent anything.
After endless amounts of messages back and forth, phone numbers were finally exchanged. Then gym "dates" started. The only day they weren't lifting together was Monday, when Nate had off from work. It may have been Nate's favorite day of the week, but Laura hated it. Gym dates began to go longer and longer as they started walking the trails behind the gym after lifting, sometimes for hours.
Gym and walking dates, eventually turned into "real" dates. Soon after Nate and Laura were spending much of their time together. Finally, after nearly a year, Nate and Laura became official.
After 2 years of dating, Nate proposed to Laura on Christmas Eve 2024. Nate put the engagement ring in one of his Grandpa's old ammo boxes and Laura legit thought she was getting a gun. Cool, right? Nate told her to keep looking in the box and when she finally found it, she looked up and Nate was on his knee. It was the best Christmas gift, ever...or so they thought.
Fast forward two weeks. Laura wasn't feeling quite right on New Year's Day morning. She had an inkling that something might be up and decided, what the heck, I'll take a pregnancy test. Positive. Immediately. Naturally, Laura panics and takes another test. Positive. Remember when she thought the engagement ring was the best gift? She was wrong. A doctor's appointment on January 3rd, 2024 confirmed the best gift ever.
Nate and Laura were blessed with their daughter, sweet baby Greer unexpectedly in Arkansas (but that's a story for another time) in June. Greer immediately took priority and the wedding went on the back burner for just a little bit longer.
But here we are now. Nate and Laura (and baby G) cannot wait to celebrate with you all on May 31, 2025! Cheers to celebrating marriage, surprises and so much love!
