We are so excited to celebrate in Alaska this year. We provided date, time, & location below but more details are to come! A huge thank you to (aunt) Amy Mackey-Hornak for inviting us to her home and letting us use her gorgeous property!

We fully encourage everyone take advantage of the beautiful outdoor playground that is Alaska! We recommend looking into getting a rental car sooner rather than later due to the fact that the coolest places to see are 1-3 hours in either direction out of Anchorage. Due to busy tourist season, rentals are unfortunately not cheap and can be hard to come by.
We recommend heading north for two hours to the town of Talkeetna, Alaska and making the journey over Butcher Pass.
Or take a boat out of Whittier or Seward to the south and experience whale watching and see the glaciers in Kenai Fjords National Park. Note there is a one way tunnel in and out of Whittier, so plan your trip accordingly.
There are endless hiking trails. The Byron Glacier Trail in Chugach National Forest, Alaska is a short, easy hike that leads to a view of Byron Glacier. The trail is suitable for all ages.
Matanuska Glacier is the largest glacier accessible by car in Alaska. A two hour drive North East of Anchorage along the Glenn highway, a Nationally designated Scenic Byway. Glacier hiking is only permitted with a tour guide. You can book a two hour ice cave and glacier tour with Matanuska Glacier Adventure Ice Cave Tours https://glacier-tours.com/ice-cave-tours-alaska-2/
The weather should be 60s this time of year. Remember to dress in layers and bring appropriate footwear and sunscreen, Anchorage gets about 17 hours of daylight in August.
