our timeline

what was your first impression of the other person? laura - I had only ever known jackson as one of the younger guys that lived down the street, so i had written him off as immature for his age! i quickly got to realize after just a few conversations that he was wise, mature, and easy to talk to! jackson - Laura is very pretty of course, but she was also very intimidating to me because of that. So before I had ever spoken to her, I was scared of her. After the first conversation with her that changed though, as I saw how sweet and easy to talk to she is!

when did you know he/she was the one? laura - this may sound crazy, but just a few weeks after we started dating, jackson was my plus one to a wedding. we had the best time, absolutely tore up the dance floor, and laughed the whole drive home. i remember walking into my room after, and my roommate nicole asking how the night went. to which i responded "nicole, i think we are gonna get married." jackson - I knew very soon after we started dating, specifically on her twenty-second birthday. We had been dating for a little while at that point, and we got to spend a lot of time together that day. I got to see her love and sacrifice for me, even on a day she was supposed to be celebrated.

what has been your favorite date with the other person? laura - i can't pick one! a few favorites are hammocking and eating chick fil a, going through tom's corn maze together, and definitely our one year on the riverboat! honorable mentions go to reds games, bengals games, and going to the golf course together - getting to experience some of jackson's favorite things together is always fun as i grow to love them more too! jackson - My favorite date with Laura has probably been our first year anniversary date on the riverboat in Cincinnati! We got chick-fil-a and ate in the bed of my truck, then got to spend quality time together with amazing views of our favorite city.

what is your pet peeve about each other? laura - jackson has a very inaccurate internal clock. he seems to underestimate how long it will take him to complete the tasks he needs to before making his way to meet me for whatever our plans are. because of this, if he tells me he will arrive at 4:30, i can expect him probably around 5 lol jackson - Laura can not work on something and communicate at the same time. It makes for a long waiting period between asking a question and getting a response!

what is your favorite thing about the other person? laura - yet again i can't pick one!! jackson is a GREAT listener! (which is great because if you know me you know i am a talker :) i can count on him to very willingly sacrifice for me, and others, and i get to see his selfless nature in action daily, which is such a blessing! jackson - My favorite thing about Laura is her care for others. She is always on a mission to make sure everyone in the room is cared for and has what they need. She's the best!

how did the proposal go down, all the details! laura - let me tell ya. i am a bit of a planner, so having no idea when we would get engaged or how it would happen was about to send me into a spiral! every time we hung out i was a bit suspicious of what could happen, but this was supposed to be jackson's birthday dinner (how dare i make it about myself!!) we were going to jeff ruby's, and i am not a fan of steak, so i was not all too thrilled lol. jackson picked me up for dinner, and on the way there his mom called us that the reservation got delayed, and as soon as jackson suggested we kill time at the park, the alarms started goin off!! we got to the park and nothing seemed out of the normal, until i saw the proposal site (which was so beautiful: thank you jenna, ana lu, and abbi for the help!) and jackson said a lot of very kind things that neither of us can really recall!! it was genuinely the most surreal day, and i felt so loved by the planning and attention to detail he put into the entire day! i was in such disbelief, i was scared to put the ring on, i said it was too pretty and i couldn't believe it was mine to keep, and jackson was mine to keep! jackson - i had a whole set up with her friends, they helped me a lot with the planning, thanks guys! i got my mom to text our family to plan a dinner for my birthday, which happened to be a few days after the 'dinner plans'. but when we got close to the restaurant my mom called us and told us the reservation got pushed back (which i had staged prior). I told her we needed to kill time so we went up to Alms Park, where we had our first date. I had Laura's friends put together a little setup under the pavilion there, and then I dropped down on one knee! We then celebrated with our friends and family afterwards. A night to remember!
