Picture this - It's the 29th of October 2019 and first preview performance of Dear Evan Hansen at the Noel Coward Theatre. Two young actors stand on the stage right Royal Circle doors giving out blue baseball caps and thanking audiences for coming. They make small talk not knowing that on this day 6 years into the future, they would have already been married for a month.

Thanks to the front of house managers who continually put us on shift together, we got to know each other in a way that only bonding over cleaning toilets every day and dealing with angry theatre goers can inspire. Joe was the class clown, dancing in the foyer, being silly over the radio, causing mischief, and sneaking lemon slices and cucumber from the bars to sit in a corner and munch. Laura was the incident prone access host who accidentally left a door open, letting a stranger off the street sneak into the theatre and watch all of act 2 from a private box, and who did nothing but laugh when an angry patron threw a glass off wine over her for not filling up the water jugs on the bar quick enough. It was a match made in heaven.

Every day was fun, we bounced off each others jokes so naturally and bickered so incessantly that the rest of the team often referred to us as 'the old married couple'. And on the day Joe produced a trick pound coin from his waistcoat pocket and fooled Laura into agreeing to go on a date with him, he set the wheels in motion for making that nickname become a reality.

5 years, a house then a flat, several new jobs and a cat called Meebz later, Joe flipped the coin once more at the Duomo in Barga to ask Laura to marry him. Much like that day in the foyer of the theatre, the trick was not necessary, she had already said yes before the coin had a chance to land.

We've travelled together, created a theatre company, adopted a cat, helped learn lines, laughed, supported and loved for the last 6 years, and now we get to say 'I Do' and agree to keep being a light in each others lives forever.
