Originally constructed as a logging town in the 1890's, Watervale is now a low-key, charmignly rustic resort. It is treasured by generations of family and friends who gather there each summer, including Laura's family! Nestled on the shores of both the "Big Lake" (Lake Michigan), with its miles of pristine, undeveloped sand dunes, beaches and forests, and the "Little Lake" (Lower Herring Lake), we think it's pretty much a slice of heaven on earth.

Watervale isn't the easiest to get to! The closest commercial airport is in Traverse City, about a 1 hour drive from Watervale. We understand that this is quite a trek and respect that some of you will not be able to attend. Due to the unique nature and relatively small size of the venue, any advance notice of your attendance you can give would be much appreciated! Also, although we adore your children, due to limited seating at the venue we regretfully cannot accommodate them. We hope you are able to join us and enjoy a relaxed weekend off with family and friends!

Unfortunately we realize that COVID-19 adds a little bit of uncertainty to our big day. The last thing we want to do is make any of our closest friends and family uncomfortable. As many of you know, certain areas of Michigan are currently being labelled as significant hot-spots for COVID-19 in the United States. The good news is that positivity rates are declining rapidly, and numbers are significantly improving everyday! Given the rural nature of Benzie County, it has remained one of the lowest regions for COVID-19 in the state. We hope that with the advent of vaccines (the majority of our guests have already received theirs, including us!), and the open air nature of the venue, that you will be comfortable joining us on our big day!

While we want you all to be here, we also think it goes without saying that we respectfully ask you stay home if you are feeling unwell before the event. Please know that we're taking special care to be sure everybody stays safe, and has a great time! Our wedding is still a little ways away, and things can still change between now and then. We will keep this section updated periodically as we approach the event, so feel free to check back in from time to time.

For those that are able to arrive by Thursday, we will be having a casual welcome party at the Stormcloud Brewing Company Parkview Taproom located at 366 Parkview Ln Frankfort, MI 49635. Join us for dinner and a few locally crafted beers in beautiful downtown Frankfort from 6:00 - 9:00.

We realize this may be asking a lot following the kind of festivities from the evening before, but we are cordially inviting you to breakfast on Sunday morning. It's included with the room, so it'd be a shame if you missed it!
