Despite the recent quality issues with Boeing, we love taking visitors on a tour of the Boeing factory. It's super cool to walk onto the factory floor and see how the sausage gets made.
The factory is a 30 minute drive from downtown Seattle, and is the second biggest building in the world! We recommend buying tickets in advance.
The Ballard Farmer's Market is our favorite farmer's market in the city.
Open only on Sundays from 9am-2pm, it features over 100 vendors selling fresh produce, prepared foods, handcrafted good, and tons of beautiful flowers. Sean's favorite booth is Pete's Perfect Toffee.
The Ballard Locks connects Salmon Bay and the Puget Sound to Lake Washington via the Lake Washington Ship Canal and is the busiest lock system in the United States.
One of the coolest things there is the Fish Ladder which provides a safe way for salmon to travel between between freshwater and saltwater to spawn.
Seattle has an amazing craft brewery scene, and the Ballard Brewery District features more than 12 breweries in a one-mile radius. Downtown Ballard offers even more options! There's nothing better than drinking a cold beer outside with friends in the summer at a brewery. Kids and pets are welcome.
Some of Laura's favorite breweries in this area are:
-Reuben's Brews
-Stoup Brewing
-Cloudburst Brewing - Shilshole Ave. Beer Garden
-Cloudburst
We love playing board games, and this board games store lets you borrow a board game and play it while having a meal or a snack!
Located near the Space Needle, the Chihuly Museum displays gorgeous blown glass art pieces by internationally renowned local glassblower Dale Chihuly.
Golden Gardens Beach is one of our favorite beaches in Seattle.
Besides just hanging out and relaxing on the beach, we especially love to visit at low tide where you can sometimes spot starfish, sea cucumbers, and other sea creatures in the tidepools.
Low tide on July 20th is 10:53 AM
Low tide on July 21st is 11:34 AM
Our favorite bookstore in Seattle!
It's easy to lose a whole afternoon here, wandering the stacks and reading the staff recommendation notes which which cover the shelves.
Something we love about Seattle is its proximity to the mountains!
Rattlesnake Ledge is one of Sean's favorite hike. At only 4 miles roundtrip, it boasts incredible views and is only a ~45 minute drive from Seattle
