Justin and Laura met in 2017 in Wausau, Wisconsin. They were both attending a Horseshoes and Hand Grenades concert, and mutual friends introduced them.

That night Justin recommended a beer to Laura (a blueberry sour) and they spent the evening getting to know each other. Before the clock struck midnight, Laura invited Justin back to her apartment to listen to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club, as it was the 50 year anniversary of the album's release.

After hours of talking and listening to vinyl records, Justin asked Laura if he could kiss her, and from there they've been inseparable.

The two moved in together in 2018, and in 2020 they moved to Madison, Wisconsin and weathered the pandemic together.

They got engaged on April 16, 2023 in Paris, France, in front of the Eiffel Tower, during a whirlwind tour of Europe with Justin's family. He proposed using Laura's grandmother's ring.
