Like many modern romances, Paul and Laura met online. Laura swiped right because Paul seemed like someone who did not take himself too seriously and Paul swiped because they had similar interests (i.e. volleyball, reading, hiking) and "that irresistible smile, of course." Laura suggested they have their first date at the Columbus Arts Festival on June 9, 2023. Before that day, Laura never believed in "love at first sight," which all changed when she laid eyes on Paul for the first time. In that moment, she knew he was the person she was going to marry. Likewise, Paul had never felt so relaxed or compatible during a first date. The ease and flow of their first few hours together couldn't have been more opposite to the roaring of the Saltstraumen (the world's strongest tidal current) where he would later propose. She was the missing puzzle piece he had long been seeking. Together, Laura and Paul love to experience the many unique ethnic restaurants and coffee shops around Columbus, hike the beautiful Metro Parks (Highbanks and Scioto Grove are their favorites), play with their cats (Maddie, Moreau, and Othello), and spend time with their friends. Paul and Laura love to travel together. So far, they have visited Muskegon, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor, MI; Cincinnati and Hocking Hills, OH; Boston and Salem, MA; Kittery Point, ME; Charleston, SC; Puerto Rico; and Norway. While on vacation in Norway, Paul proposed on November 19, 2024 by the Saltstraumen, the world's strongest tidal current. They like to say that the tidal current is still not as strong as their love.

Colleen and Laura met in 1st grade at St. Francis de Sales elementary school. Growing up, they spent many summers biking to local convenience stores to get candy, kayaking to Lake Michigan, and many other adventures!

Will and Paul met in 1st grade and became thick as thieves immediately. They went to separate schools in middle school but reunited as Cincinnati Bearcats. They share a love for fantasy books and video games

Jo and Laura met through St. Christopher Parish's Young Professional group, almost like divine intervention. Laura loves to join Joey and her dog, Shadow, on adventures around Columbus's metro parks or explore Columbus coffee shops

Derek and Paul go way back... all the way to Derek's birth. Despite their 11 year age gap, the Rose Buds can often be found grabbing a beer, watching sports, or exploring new cities

Walking into a Young Professional's bonfire, Adjoa and Laura, both newcomers, banded together and have been inseparable ever since. They have spent many hours together knit/crocheting while watching Notre Dame sports or Hallmark movies

When Josh and his family moved in across the street from the Roses, he likely did not know he would be standing up in Paul's wedding almost three decades later. These lifelong family friends love to play board games, grill out, and watch/play sports

Jill and Laura met through the intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) psychology PhD program at Ohio State. After a few years, Laura finally convinced Jill to join St. Christopher's, where she met her wonderful husband, Jim

Paul met David and his wife, Jenna, when they all moved into the same apartment complex. They became friends through a lightning strike and puppy play dates. Even though Paul's dog, Bailey, has crossed the rainbow bridge, Paul and David love to watch the Browns and go on backpacking trips

Ironically, Elisabeth and Laura first met at Saint Mary's College, where Elisabeth was roommates with one of Laura's friends. Later, their friendship blossomed when Elisabeth moved back to Columbus and joined St. Chris

At Paul's first disc golf league, he met John and became fast friends. Paul was impressed by John's performance in the round and they often played together at other events. They can often be found adventuring around Ohio playing different disc golf courses with Zach

Laura is so thankful to Jill for introducing her to her twin, Claire! Now, the three of them love to investigate crime shows, learn about cryptozoological creatures, explore the Farmer's Market, or hit the gym

Shortly after Paul began playing disc golf, he met Zach and they form an impressive trio with John. Paul considers Zach a "fellow connoisseur of great hair" and admired his stylish spectacles. Now, they spend each week at various disc golf courses for their league

Walk across the bridge and grab a scoop of ice cream at Jeni's (Laura loves their Rainbow BFY and Paul's favorite is the Salted Peanut Butter Chocolate Flecks) or a taco at Condado's.

Grab a coffee at Stauf's (right next door) or Fox in the Snow (their pastries and egg sandwiches are to die for!) and take a walk in Schiller Park. Can you find all the statues? You might have to look up!
