General Food/Drink Suggestions for Your Trip

Macomb Area

We recommend checking out Buddy’s Famous Pizza, National Coney Island, Hopcat, or Bubba’s 33 for local Detroit style food. For upscale dining or wine tasting, Cooper’s Hawk in Partridge Creek Mall is great. Sherwood Brewing has a great selection of craft beer and bar food. For breakfast, Le Andos Café and Pantry have pancakes, omelets, and all manner of breakfast delights. Try out the local chain, Biggby Coffee, for a tasty pick-me-up anytime!

Rochester Area

Downtown Rochester is a beautiful area filled with lots of fun restaurants, bars, and shops! Our favorite restaurants include Chomp (Vegan and Non-Vegan Sandwiches and Salads), O’Conner’s Irish Pub (Classic Irish and American Pub Food) Meeting House (Upscale American Cuisine), and La Puma’s Coney Island (Cash only Hot Dogs!). For drinks, we love going to the Backdoor Taco and Tequila, Baus, Saint 1881, and Rochester Mills Beer Company. If you’re up for breakfast, venture to Rochester Brunch House for sweet and savory plates. Rochester is also home to wonderful coffee shops like Bean and Leaf and Dessert Oasis. For tasty treats, visit Bake House 46, Holy Cannoli, or Sanders Chocolates and Ice Cream.

Detroit Area

Detroit is the best! As far as things to do, you can't go wrong with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). Belle Isle, Motown Museum, or stroll around Campus Martius. The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn is amazing! Bars and restaurants—The Skip (quirky cocktail bar), The Shelby (speakeasy), Sweetwater Tavern (known for chicken wings), San Morello (Italian), Pegasus Taverna (Greek), The Whitney ($$$ but iconic), Detroit Shipping Co (pub), Highlands (high-rise steakhouse and bar), Central Kitchen + Bar (casual lunch spot). You could also taste test the famous Lafayette Coney Island and the American Coney Island downtown.
