Karl and Laura's 3rd or 4th date. Rodin heaven.
We like maps.
Gray whale watching (December-May).
Favorite place for clam chowder on the Peninsula. It isn't loaded with butter and cream - which are usually favorite ingredients, to be sure - but you can actually taste the clams, celery, spices, etc. in this soup.
Ask for the spicy chocolate sundae.
For the buffalo especially.
Ruins of ocean pool aquarium and bathhouse built in 1894.
Beautiful and easy trails with non-stop views of GGB and ocean. Huge steam ships arriving and departing Port of Oakland via Fort Point which marks the door to the SF Bay from the Pacific. Some trails lead down to beaches (Baker, Marshall) and old military batteries. Lots of wildflowers, birds, windswept Cypress, and green.
The Burmese and Thai food here is delicious. Especially the coconut chicken noodle soup.
Personal favorites: Macaroni and cheese grilled cheese sandwich and mushroom gruyere sandwich.
Explore beautiful views of GGB, old military arsenal ruins and buildings and forts.
Maple buttermilk comes out of the fryer in the middle of the night, I believe. Call ahead to find out. It's the best donut.
