How We Met

It was November of 2017 when Will and Laurel’s mutual friend told Will she had a coworker he should meet. Two days later they met for the first time over coffee, which turned into spending the rest of the afternoon together! Over the next few weeks they were texting and talking nonstop, and having dinner dates any evening Laurel wasn’t at the hospital. From that point on they were inseparable. Whether traveling somewhere new, or having a quiet night at home with the cat, they knew it had to be with each other. Almost exactly three years later, Will popped the question and Laurel said YES! We are so looking forward to this new chapter together and can’t wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people!

Online it will state there are no rooms, but they have plenty available! You must call the Inn to reserve a room!

Parking The Colonial Inn has limited parking available for guests. There is street parking available throughout downtown Hillsborough as well as the Eno River parking deck on Nash and Kollock Street.

Guests From Out Of Town For our guests flying in from out of town, Raleigh Durham International Airport is the closest airport to Hillsborough. The drive to Hillsborough is about 25 minutes and there are multiple car rental agencies including Hertz, National, and Enterprise available at the airport.

Travel

The Riverwalk is conveniently located in downtown Hillsborough. You can explore almost 2 miles of trails leading to the Historic Speedway.

Another local favorite is walking through Duke Gardens which is about 15 minutes from Hillsborough!

Things to Do

We all have that one friend we could never imagine our lives without. Shay and Laurel met working together at Chatham Coffee Company and soon we’re inseparable. From spending summers on the Cape, sleepovers every night, and cross country road trips, they are truly the best of friends.

Shay McNamara 

Chaning is Laurel’s sister-in-law, married to her Brother Austin. After helping show Laurel her first college party, Chaning quickly became a big sister and best friend. From living together when Laurel first moved to North Carolina, to becoming a most trusted confidant, Chaning is the sister Laurel never had.

Chaning Marsland

Laurel met Allie when they were paired together as freshman year suite mates. Soon after, where you saw one you saw the other. Spending all four years as roommates, they knew they had found a best friend for life. And hey, if they can survive living in a tiny room with bunk beds together, they can survive anything.

Allie Boulais 

Sarah is Will’s sister and Laurel’s soon to be sister-in-law. The first day Will introduced them, they knew they were already sisters. Whether they are watching Hallmark movies under a warm blanket, or laughing at Will’s messy eating, they are smiling ear to ear together!

Sarah Shannonhouse

The universe demanded Laurel and Nichelle’s friendship. After going to the same college to study nursing, moving to the same state after graduation, and both getting a job on the same unit at Duke, they unknowingly obliged. Nichelle and Laurel didn’t deny fate and have since become the closest of friends!

Nichelle Watkins

Sometimes you’re forced to hang out with your cousins, and if you’re lucky, you become best friends! Emily and Laurel have been close all their lives. After summers on the cape home from college, and Emily also moving to North Carolina to work at Duke, they’re more like sisters than cousins.

Emily Neddermann

Ted is Will’s Dad, best friend, and best man. The person who taught Will everything he knows and who Will looks to for advice. Always doing something  together outside growing up, motorcycles, water skiing, kayaking; the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Ryan is Will’s brother-in-law, married to his sister Sarah. When she first introduced them, they got along right away. They have always bonded over their love of gadgets, action movies, meat eating, and always being up for something new!

Austin is Laurel’s brother and luckily loves to golf as much as Will. Austin and Will also share a love of picking on Laurel! Since they like the same sports, music, and travel, it is easy to see why they get along so well!

Austin Marsland

Jason and Will were bound to be best friends. Their fathers were childhood friends and their mothers became friends in their college days. Jason has been there through Will’s worst days and best. He knows Will better than anyone, except for Laurel, and is the older brother Will never had!

Jason Latta

Will and John went to elementary, middle, and high school together. After they graduated college, they became roommates and lived together for 6 years. After many snowboarding trips and infamous golfing battles, the only argument they’ve ever had was whether or not that putt was a gimme.

John Strayhorn

Matthew and Will met in second grade, Ms. Bond's class. Matthew was the cool kid so Will made sure to befriend him immediately. After being roommates in college, partying together at ECU, and their mutual love of heavy weight boxing, their lifelong friendship is already cemented
