Our Wedding

On one special evening at Chapman University, the love story of Lauren and Max unfolded during their freshman year. Fate played its hand when Max's football teammate, mistaken for an interested party, orchestrated their meeting &amp; guided Lauren in Max's direction. Their romantic journey was destined to begin at Justin Bieber's Purpose World Tour in 2016, a dream first date. However, Lauren, bound by unbreakable spring break plans, had to forgo the opportunity. In a moment of playful despair, she recalls saying to her mother, "You're ruining my life," fearing Max's interest might disappear. But love prevailed as the two found themselves spending time together one-on-one on the first night back on campus. Through the spring of 2016, Lauren and Max became inseparable, weaving precious moments into the fabric of their connection before heading home for summer. The distance could not diminish their bond, as texts and FaceTime calls bridged the gap until their reunion in the fall of 2016 at Chapman. Their college years unfolded beautifully, with Lauren cheering for Max at football games, and Max gracing Lauren's Alpha Phi sorority events. Together, they navigated the transformative landscape of college years, growing side by side. Post-graduation in 2019, the duo embarked on a new chapter, setting up their first apartment together in Downtown San Diego. Amidst the trials of a pandemic, they found a small, fluffy piece of joy, welcoming a sweet Persian cat named Todd into their family. From there, their journey took them to the serene Oregon Coast, Lauren's family home in Camas, Washington, and a heartwarming return to Orange County in 2022, where their love story had its beginnings. After nearly 8 years of love &amp; laughter, Max seized the opportunity to propose in a picturesque moment at Clos du Val in Napa, California with a stunning ring, crafted with love by Lauren's cousin Linnea. Now, with hearts intertwined forever, they eagerly anticipate saying their "I Do's" &amp; dancing under the stars as they tie the knot in 2025 in the romantic embrace of their favorite country—Italy!

EES & ETIAS.

Good news! You do not need to worry about EES or ETIAS for our wedding! The European Union has revised the implementation timelines for both the Entry/Exit System (EES) &amp; the European Travel Authorization System (ETIAS). The EES is now scheduled to begin in October 2025. Following this, the ETIAS is expected to become operational in late 2026.

UK ETA.

The UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) started on&nbsp;January 8, 2025,&nbsp;for most non-European passport holders, including US citizens. Many travelers, including those from the U.S., Canada, and the EU, will need an ETA for transit through the UK, even if they are just passing through London Heathrow (LHR) without leaving the airport. From the United States, it is best to first book a flight to Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP). We then recommend booking a domestic flight to Bari (BRI) or Brindisi (BDS) separately. We suggest using travel sites like Hopper, Skyscanner, or Google Flights to find the best flights! NOTE: Should you fly into Rome, you can also take a train from Roma Termini to Bari Centrale, which takes roughly 4.5-5 hours but can be a budget-friendly option.

It can also be possible to find good flights to other cities like Amsterdam (AMS), Barcelona (BCN), Dublin (DUB), Paris (CDG), London (LHR), Munich (MUC), etc. &amp; fly from there to one of Puglia's airports.

Puglia has a network of trains that connect major cities and towns, though service can be slower and less frequent compared to other parts of Italy.&nbsp;Trains are useful for major hubs, but rental cars or private transfers are better for exploring countryside areas, small coastal towns, and masserie (and for getting to our wedding venue).

Trenitalia.

If you plan to explore Puglia beyond our wedding, we highly recommend renting a car. There are no Uber or taxis in the area and unfortunately, public transportation is not a recommended alternative as they only go from one town to another.

Major car rental brands are available at the airports in Bari &amp; Brindisi including Sixt, Hertz, Budget, Avis, etc. Car rentals are also available at Bari Centrale &amp; Brindisi train stations. We recommend booking a rental car in advance for better pricing &amp; availability. Please note: You need an international driving permit as well as your US driver's license. It's essentially a multi-lingual translation of your English license, which you can get at your local AAA. There are no public taxis or Ubers in Puglia, only private hire, which includes the airport. If you do not rent a car, we recommend reaching out to your accommodation to help you hire a taxi. In June, Puglia can be around 79℉ during the daytime &amp; 68℉ in the evening, but, it can even get hotter! Be sure to check the weather &amp; dress accordingly. why italy?

Do you believe in signs? In high school, Lauren had a "travel bucket list" on the Notes app of her phone. On that list was... Ostuni, Italy... the city where we will be married. To go even further, Lauren has had a photo of the exact venue, Masseria Grieco, pinned on her Pinterest for years. To say "it just felt right" would be an understatement! Beyond this, we visited Italy separately in 2019, one week apart. That is when we fell in love with the country's food, lifestyle, and culture for the first time. When thinking about where we wanted to get married, Italy kept coming to mind. After all of these years together, we wanted our wedding to reflect the adventure that our relationship has been. It's incredibly special to us to share this special country with you!

Puglia, pronounced "poo · lee · uh," is known for&nbsp;its coastline, the longest of any mainland Italian region. It is also special because&nbsp;it produces most of Italy's olive oil! Not only that, it's the home of burrata, orecchiette, and delicious wine!

where is the wedding?

Our wedding is at&nbsp;Masseria Grieco, a stunning historical farm from the 16th century turned countryside resort located appx. 15 minutes from the city center of Ostuni. do we need to rent a car?

You do not HAVE to rent a car, however, it is highly recommended for the easiest way to travel throughout Puglia. Please see our <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/lauren-belzer-and-max-sanford-jun-2025/travel" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Travel</a> page for more transportation information.

is there parking?

Yes! For those driving, there is parking on-site at Masseria Grieco. Please DO NOT drink &amp; drive.

where should we stay?

We recommend staying within 15 minutes of Masseria Grieco at a hotel, Airbnb, etc. For recommendations on places to stay, visit the <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/lauren-belzer-and-max-sanford-jun-2025/things-to-do" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Stay</a>&nbsp;section of our wedding website.

are there any other places we should visit in Puglia?

Absolutely! Masseria Grieco &amp; the city of Ostuni are both beautiful, however, Puglia is rich in beautiful sights and activities. when is the RSVP deadline?

We kindly ask you to RSVP as soon as you know whether or not you'll be able to make it, however, the latest date to RSVP is February 1st, 2025. Please carefully consider your RSVP before making it official. Once you have responded "No" we will not be able to accommodate a change of heart. We appreciate your understanding! Please submit your RSVP via the <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/lauren-belzer-and-max-sanford-jun-2025/rsvp" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">RSVP</a> page.

do we need to attend all events?

As much as we would love for you to attend our welcome dinner &amp; pizza party, you are not required to. Please RSVP "No" to that specific event so we can provide accurate final numbers!

can i bring a guest?

Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. ﻿Due to the smaller scale of our destination wedding, we will only be able to accommodate those whose names are explicitly listed on your RSVP. Thank you for understanding!

are kids welcome?

All events are&nbsp;adult-only. ﻿We love your kids but want you to be able to travel to Puglia and beyond kid-free!

is there a dress code?

A separate "dress code" for each event is explained on our <a href="https://www.theknot.com/us/lauren-belzer-and-maxwell-sanford-jun-2025/attire" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Attire</a> page. All events will be outdoors! In June, Puglia can be around 79℉ during the daytime &amp; 68℉ in the evening, but, it can even get hotter! Be sure to check the weather &amp; dress accordingly. Stilettos and pointed heels are not recommended due to cobblestones, grass, and uneven ground. If you have questions about what to wear, please text Lauren at (360) 907-0603! when does the wedding end?

The curfew for the wedding night is midnight. We completely understand if you cannot celebrate that late &amp; need to retreat early!

is there anything else we should know?

credit cards.

In Italy, Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted credit cards, while American Express (AMEX) and Discover have more limited acceptance. Pro Tip: Always choose to pay in euros (€) instead of USD to avoid bad exchange rates, and don't forget to carry some cash (€50-100), especially for small shops, taxis, public restrooms, and rural areas. When in doubt, ask if cards are accepted before ordering at small restaurants or cafés!

Please be smart &amp; safe throughout your travels in Italy &amp; elsewhere! In case of an emergency, for immediate medical attention, or to call an ambulance - the European emergency response number is 112.

Check-In: June 10, 2025 at 4:00 pmCheck-Out: June 13, 2025 at 10:00 amThere will be NO early check-in or late check-out. Included: Buffet breakfast, use of the swimming pool with sunbeds and towels, Wi-Fi, parking &amp; air conditioning. VAT included. Not Included: Tourist tax of €2 per person per night, any additional food/drinks that you purchase from Masseria Grieco (to be paid at the point of purchase or upon checkout if charged to room).

The breakfast buffet is served from 8:00 am - 10:00 am each morning. Aside from your included breakfast, we will be providing the following meals: June 10: Welcome DinnerJune 11: "Aperitivo" &amp; Wedding DinnerJune 12: Pizza Party For lunch on June 10 &amp; dinner on June 12, we recommend making a reservation at a nearby restaurant, stumbling into a cute café, or whatever floats your boat!

property rules.

Smoking, vaping, and the use of other tobacco or electronic smoking devices is strictly prohibited on the premises. Pets are not allowed. Glass is not allowed by the pool/pool bar. Pool use after 11:00 pm on June 10 &amp; 12 is strictly forbidden. Pool use on June 11 (wedding day) is strictly forbidden from the beginning of the ceremony until the end of the night. Entering the restaurant &amp; the pool bar when closed is strictly forbidden. Music can only be played in the background using the speakers installed at the Masseria to not scare the animals. There will be NO late check-out on June 13. After check-out, it is not possible to spend any further time in the Masseria as the staff needs all the free spaces to clean up for the next event.
