Carl and Lauren share a love for travel and try to go on a few trips each year. So, when a few friends started talking about doing Oktoberfest in Munich, they jumped at the chance.

They started the trip with four days in Amsterdam visiting Jack and Jacqueline Digney before continuing to Germany to meet up with more friends in the beer tents.

On September 12, 2023, Carl asked Lauren to be his fiancée! She obviously said "YES," but a good proposal story starts with what led up to the big question...

Carl and Lauren spent the morning of the 12th riding bikes around the city, eating great food, and exploring parks and farmers markets. After their friends were done with work, they had plans to go to a Michelin-star restaurant for dinner but decided to grab a drink on a patio before their reservation.

While at the patio bar, Carl was getting very nervous and fiddling with his cellphone, thinking about the pending surprise proposal in just 30 minutes (Lauren was oblivious). Carl was so nervous that his phone slipped out of his hands, hit the table, and rolled straight into the canal with a solid "PLOP," never to be seen again. As soon as this happened, Carl wanted to just "walk to the next bar," but Lauren was frantic since Carl had the entire trip's tickets and reservations backed up on his phone. Lauren wanted to run to the Apple store a few blocks away to buy a new phone while Carl was dragging her to the "next bar." After taking a quick photo, Carl finally got down on one knee and proposed.

The Apple store was not part of the evening's plans!

The rest of the trip, Carl and Lauren had an incredible time celebrating their engagement with friends in Europe.
