Jeff and Lauren met while working at Citibank. The day Jeff decided that he was going to make a move, Lauren told him that it was her last day working at that location as she was going to be moving to a different position in Dayton. However, one week later, Lauren was back at the Columbus location. It didn't take very long for Jeff to ask Lauren out on their first date in October 2014. The two have been inseparable ever since.

Dating Lauren brought about an instant family for Jeff, as Lauren had a daughter, Emma, from a previous relationship. In May 2016, Jeff and Lauren bought their first home together. In September 2017, they welcomed their first child together, Oliver. In December 2020, they welcomed their second child together, Owen. They outgrew their first home, and in June 2021, they sold their first home and bought another home.

On February 5, 2023, Jeff finally got down on one knee and proposed to Lauren in the privacy of their home together.
