The setting was December, 2020, Morgantown Brewing Company, before sours infiltrated the craft brew scene; our first date. I discovered two things about, Lauren, that would unknowingly have a major impact on the future of my life. Firstly, the state of being hangry, was something she had never experienced. Secondly, two drinks get the best of her. And by now, you probably know which of those two have remained true.
Since then we continue to make occasional trips to breweries and avoid sours the best we can. We have been able to experience new mountains and places together, rather than on our own. This includes an especially sweaty hike in late September, 2023. It was to the top of, Dorr Mountain, where she said, “Yes.” Afterward, alongside a warm fire, while over looking, Frenchman Bay, we shared a few more drinks as an engaged couple.
In the future, I am sure there will be more flight delays, snowy road closures, or one too many drinks shared, and I would not want to experience them with anyone else by my side. Cheers to many more adventures together…
We had our first date at Morgantown Brewing Company in December of 2020. I was extra chatty after two drinks, and I learned all about Colin’s love of snowboarding, golf (which at that point I pretended to be interested in), and his family. I realized he had to be a pretty nice guy as he handed me a water instead of a third beer. We spent a few weeks apart, and after the holiday madness I knew I wanted to see him again. He asked me to bring my skis when I came back from break so that we could try to make a trip to snowshoe in the future. Naturally, I forgot my skis on my way back to Morgantown, and Colin talked me into turning around to get them which ruined our second date. I thought we might not see each other for a little while due to PT school, and I was so mad at myself for forgetting my skis. Luckily, the first week of my clinical got canceled due to covid. That week happened to fall on Colin's six day stretch off from work. We spent the whole week together. It was one of the most fun weeks filled with dinners, movies, ski trips to Snowshoe, one very cold ski trip to Canaan, and even a few winter hikes. I knew after that week that I didn't want to spend time with anyone else.
We have continued to grow together over the past three years as we have both graduated, started new careers, moved in together, had the adventure of our dog Rosie, have gone on numerous trips all over the country, and many dinner dates. I cannot wait for a lifetime of adventures with Colin, and to see what the future holds for us.
