Our Wedding

We met at our CrossFit gym - which we should start by saying is much more than just a "gym." CrossFit Compelled is a community unlike any other and where some of our best friends have been made. Lauren started the conversation with Tyler with, "If this doesn't work out, this is MY GYM." Thankfully, here we are now. : ) We first tried to hang out at a Chiefs game - Tyler invited Lauren to ride a bus to Kansas City with a group of his friends, departing around 6am on a Sunday. Lauren and her friend Melissa confirmed, but it just so happened the night before was Jarrod and Sarah's wedding reception, and a 6am departure was not in the cards. Lauren overslept, and after an annoyed early-morning visit from a wonderful friend (thanks Becky ; ) to wake Lauren up, she and Melissa connected and bee-lined it to KC in time for the game! Beers at halftime had to suffice that time for Lauren and Tyler. Our first date was in October 2019 at Wichita Brewing - which has since become a staple in our restaurant rotation. We shared the sweet heat carnivore pizza, which Lauren could hardly eat a bite of because prior to that, we shared the stuffed jalapenos that were SO HOT Lauren cried actual tears. We later learned neither of us really even care for spicy food.... To make the trip even more memorable, the second we walked through the doors at WBC, Tyler said "that's my dad." Sure enough, Tom came to say hi, and well... we still spend a good amount of time with him there. ;) A few weeks later, we made it to another Chief's game - together this time - to celebrate Lauren's birthday weekend. It's safe to say we have been inseparable ever since. It should have been a sign that Lauren's VERY protective pup (now OUR protective pup, Kaylee) - who never met a stranger she liked at first... or even second introduction - adored Tyler from day one. Labor Day weekend 2020 brought the most wonderful surprise (for Lauren - seemingly EVERYONE else already knew!!).. a weekend at Table Rock Lake that started out like many others before, turned out to be engagement weekend! Surprise visits from Tyler's parents, Lauren's parents, Karly and Blake (and well wishes from Sarah and Jarrod in Colorado) completed Tyler's plan. We can't wait to tie the knot and continue our adventure together - friends, Chiefs, breweries, lakes, and each other... : )
