•Brock’s Story•
When Lauren and I first started talking, I loved how much she talked about family. I also loved how much she liked to be outside enjoying the outdoors. We were (and obviously still are) both BIG Mississippi State fans and could always talk sports with each other. Some of our first conversations were so easy because we could always talk about MS State, hunting or fishing. Our first time meeting on our first date I think the first thing I noticed were her eyes; so beautiful!! I knew she was the one when not long after our first date she came fishing with me to practice for my upcoming tournament. It was out of town, freezing cold, windy, and there was a chance for a few pop-up storms. She hung in there like a pro. After that, I thought “I gotta marry this amazing woman”. Now, almost 4 years later, I get to marry my forever fishing partner.
•Lauren’s Story•
I knew Brock was the one for me when he was willing to wait a whole year. One whole year of off and on texting and talking on the phone. One whole year of me never saying yes and finding every excuse in the book. I was finishing up at MS State and was so busy with my own life and didn’t have any serious interest in starting a new relationship. After a year of him pursuing me and patiently waiting for me to say yes, I finally agreed to a lunch date. I was SO NERVOUS! For the ones that know me best, when I get in a group of people I don’t know, I freak out - I don’t do small talk. Now if you’re one of my people, you can’t get me to shut up (lol). Y’all, I’ve never felt more comfortable in my life sitting there talking to him for the first time in person. There wasn’t a nervous bone in my body. From then on, I knew there was something special about him. He came into my life in one of the absolute craziest, most unpredictable seasons. For our brand new relationship, it would’ve been easy for him to leave, but thank goodness he was in it for the long haul. He knows how to calm my anxious thoughts with his witty humor and calming presence. He eases my incessant need to have every minute planned with his random spontaneity(which I hate and love all at the same time🤪). The cliché saying of “opposites attract” could never be truer but also could never be farther from the truth for us and our relationship. Our personalities can be polar opposites in the best way; they balance us and bring out what we both need in a partner. Our interests, hobbies, beliefs, and morals couldn’t line up more perfectly, and we are able to enjoy those together. Over the last 4 years I’ve grown to know and love someone who values us, Christ, family, and of course MS State and everything outdoors more than anything in this world. If the last 4 years have been this amazing, I can’t wait to see what the next 4 years and the rest of our lives hold!
Let’s get married, B!
