Before The World Locked Down

Amanda and Lauren met how many couples these days meet, online. They both thought to try Facebook's new dating app, and despite it being pretty lacking and buggy, they both found each other and started talking. After a few messages back and forth, Amanda seemed to ghost Lauren for a couple weeks. One day Lauren decided to delete the app and put dating on pause for a while, but when she logged in she saw a new message from Amanda, giving her phone number. Lauren texted hello, and they decided to meet in person. They met at Global Tap House in Schaumburg, as Amanda knew Lauren was a fan of craft beers. Amanda arrived first and sat at the bar. When Lauren arrived and their eyes met, they both felt an immediate connection and knew that they were meant to be. They talked for 5 hours straight that night. They had their first kiss in the parking lot before they both went home. This was in February of 2020. After a few more dates and some nights out with Lauren's friends, the world shut down because of COVID-19. Lauren was able to work from home. Amanda eventually had to be let go from her job. But the lockdown and being at home all day allowed Lauren and Amanda to basically live together and to really get to know each other on a dating fast track. It wasn't long before they talked of moving in together and eventually marriage. In April of 2021 they bought engagement rings, and in May they got engaged at a lake house on Lake Anna, VA, where Lauren's family was vacationing. The lake is special to them, especially Amanda whose favorite spot is on the shore of Lake Michigan.
