We met in our history class at BYU. It was at the Salt Lake Center, on January 18th 2024. Lauren was late to class (surprise surprise) and sat in the first seat available. It happened to be next to the dashing David Hunt. Lauren didn't think much of it at the time, but at the end of the first class period, David asked if they would sit in the same spot next week, and it became a habit after that.
We sat next to each other every week. David got Lauren's number to "get the notes." Lauren never sent them. Then, in early March, Lauren noticed David missed class while he was on a cruise. Lauren texted him, asking if he "needed the notes." He said yes. Lauren never sent them, but David got the message. He asked her out the next time he saw her in class.
Our first date was to Top Golf. The first part of the date went well, and then we went and got ice cream after. We talked and talked. We both felt like there would be a second date. Afterward, Lauren texted her mom saying this was the calmest she had ever felt after a date.
We started dating! We went slow. It took two and a half weeks for David to kiss Lauren. Lauren was worried if David actually liked her. We talked a lot and just clicked. We weren't sure where it was going, as David was going to be leaving for the summer.
David was leaving, and we didn't know what to do. We really liked each other. We pulled a couple of all-nighters just talking, getting as much time together as possible. David brought up becoming official, but Lauren wanted more time to think. David left, and we were both so sad.
We started talking every day after David left. He finally asked if we could have a time that we talked every day. So we chose 8 pm California time. We FaceTimed every day and never missed once, no matter where we were or what we were doing. This went on for 4 months. It was really hard, but great for our relationship. We really became best friends.
Lauren went out to visit David in Philadelphia. We had a wonderful time together, and David asked Lauren to be his girlfriend officially at the Philidelphia Temple. He would have done it earlier, but he wanted it to be in person.
We met up in Utah! I had a friend getting married, and David came in town to be my plus one. Lauren ended up catching the bouquet, and everyone looked over at David. A little bit of foreshadowing!
Lauren went to Philadelphia two more times and it was wonderful. We had fun going to see different sites, such as Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, Jersey Shore and Longwood Gardens. With each trip, they fell more and more in love…
David came and visited Lauren and her family in California. It was lovely and relaxing to be with each other, with no work after so long.
We went to Hawaii in September, missing the first week of school. It was worth it! Some of David’s family came along. It was wonderful, we went snorkeling, surfing, and exploring. Then, right after we got back, we went to Lake Powell with David’s family. We definitely knew that we are good travel buddies!
Fall semester was full of school, fun, and more serious conversations. We knew that we loved each other and things were going places. The word marriage was brought up…
