Our Wedding

Lauren and Damon made their relationship official on September 29, 2019 – but their story actually began two years earlier with an unsuspecting matchmaker: her older sister, Carli.

In August 2017, Carli started dental school at Marquette and quickly formed a close-knit group of friends. She often talked about them, but Lauren, laser-focused on getting into dental school herself, wasn’t paying much attention to Carli’s social circle. That is until October of 2018, when Lauren was in Milwaukee for her dental school interview. Being the thoughtful older sister she is, Carli invited Lauren to join her and her friends on the Oktoberfest bar crawl. This was only the second time that Lauren and Damon crossed paths. They quickly, and somewhat jokingly, became interested in each other, with one of their first conversations being about Lauren’s love for the Green Bay Packers and Damon’s confusing loyalty to the Minnesota Vikings (despite being a born-and-raised Wisconsinite). Lauren cleverly convinced Damon to hand over his phone and texted herself so she’d have his number. Over the next year, she found small reasons to reach out while he did a great job of playing hard to get (thanks, EJ!).

Fast forward to summer of 2019, and Lauren was getting ready to move to Milwaukee to start dental school. During one of their conversations, tennis came up, and Lauren was talking a big game. Damon challenged her to a match which Lauren eagerly accepted. Not only would she get to spend time with her sister’s good-looking friend, but she could also impress him with her game. What she didn’t realize was that Damon is ridiculously humble&nbsp;and&nbsp;good at tennis. She walked onto the court expecting a friendly match and walked off with a bruised ego after losing 6-0, 6-0. To this day, she has yet to win a match against him, and Damon never misses an opportunity to remind her of her big talk. Fortunately, Lauren was able to put this humiliating loss behind her, and they started dating on September 29, 2019.

Lauren and Damon have been on countless adventures in almost six years – dental school, residency programs, vacations, cross-country long distance, and countless trips between Green Bay and Milwaukee. At this point, they could probably do this drive blindfolded. But as the saying goes, distance makes the heart grow fonder (or at least makes you rack up a lot of airline points and miles on your car).

On June 8, 2024, Damon planned a special proposal at Peninsula State Park in Door County, Wisconsin with two of their best friends, Sam &amp; Dita, there to capture the moment. Lauren was left momentarily speechless, while Damon became nervous that her silence was a “no”. But it was the easiest question she’s ever answered!

So thank you, Carli, for unknowingly befriending Lauren’s future husband all those years ago. This is a big year with exciting changes. Long distance is now a thing of the past as Lauren finished up residency in May and moved to Green Bay where Damon lives and works. They are both extremely excited to celebrate with their closest friends and family as they begin their lives together on October 25, 2025!

While there is not a room block reserved at this hotel, it is the&nbsp;closest hotel to Crow Valley located just&nbsp;one mile down the road. This is a convenient option for those who prefer to stay near the reception venue.

Things to Do

What will the weather be like?

The forecast is showing highs in the low 60s with lows in the upper 40s. We plan on having cocktail hour and dancing outside if the weather permits. Ladies – you may want to bring a wrap or jacket for later in the evening. We will have heaters, fires, and blankets as well.

What is the schedule of events?

Please see the "Home" tab for location addresses and times. The ceremony will start at 1:30 PM. The cocktail hour will start at 4 PM, with dinner and dancing to follow beginning at 5 PM.

Is there a dress code?

Our wedding will be black-tie optional/formal. Men – a suit and tie is perfect, tuxedos are welcomed but not required. Women – a floor-length or midi dress are great options.

Will transportation be provided?

Limited transportation will be provided from Hotel Blackhawk to Crow Valley for the reception. At the end of the night, a continuous shuttle will run for three hours back to Hotel Blackhawk. Specific shuttle times will be shared closer to the date. All three hotel blocks in downtown Davenport are within walking distance to Hotel Blackhawk. You do not need to be a guest at Hotel Blackhawk to use the shuttle, but it will be the only designated pick-up and drop-off location.

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes – both Sacred Heart and Crow Valley have plenty of parking available. For the reception, guests are welcome to use the provided shuttle back to Hotel Blackhawk and leave their car at Crow overnight.

Will the festivities be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony and majority of the reception will take place indoors. The cocktail hour and dancing will be held outdoors if the weather permits.

Are my children invited?

While we love your children, we unfortunately cannot accommodate children who are not in the wedding party due to the limited size of our venue. We thank you for understanding.

What hotels do you recommend?

We have blocks at three hotels in downtown Davenport (Iowa) and one hotel in downtown Moline (Illinois) which are listed under the "Travel" tab. If you are having trouble booking a room with the block, please contact Lauren as she may need to ask the hotel to add more rooms to the block. Feel free to explore any other hotels in the area you would like.
