Our Wedding

After high school, Lauren attended Chico State and was soon followed by her sister, Mariel who attended Beauty School there. At this time Jayson was attending Butte College and also living in Chico but somehow Lauren and Jayson’s paths never crossed. Jayson did however become friends with Mariel.

Lauren moved back to her hometown of Potter Valley after graduation as did her sister Mariel. One day, Lauren went into JC Penney to get her hair cut by Mariel at the salon. Mariel mentioned that she had a recently single friend that she always thought would be a perfect match for Lauren. Lauren agreed to meet him and Mariel arranged a “Taco Tuesday” dinner where everyone could get together. Lauren and Jayson hit it off and Lauren was able to get Jayson’s phone number by mentioning that they should get their dogs together for a “play date”. Lauren had recently adopted her dog, Oso and Jayson was the proud owner of his dog, Blitz. Oso and Blitz tolerated each other at the play date but Lauren and Jayson had a great time.

Lauren and Jayson continued to hang out and a short while later they attended the Anderson Valley Beer Festival where Jayson made it official and introduced Lauren as his girlfriend.

The rest is history as Jayson and Lauren traveled the United States, visited other Countries and moved in together. They quickly became a little family with Oso and Blitz and adopted two kitties, Chicken and Nugget.&nbsp;

Eight happy and long years later, Jayson invited Lauren to the coast.&nbsp;Little did she know, Jayson was planning a secret proposal. They visited the Mendocino Botanical Gardens and after walking around until almost closing, Jayson got down on one knee and asked Lauren to marry him.&nbsp;

Today Lauren and Jayson are busy wedding planning and raising their newly adopted puppy, Ruca!

Getting Here: By Air: The closest airport is California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (ACV), located just 15 minutes from Arcata. The airport offers flights from several major cities. From the airport, you can rent a car, take a taxi, or use rideshare services to reach your destination. By Car: Arcata is accessible via Highway 101, which runs along the beautiful Northern California coast. If you're driving from San Francisco, the journey is about 5 hours. Be sure to take in the stunning coastal views along the way!

Accommodations: Arcata and nearby Eureka have a variety of accommodation options, from cozy bed and breakfasts to charming hotels and Airbnbs. We recommend booking early, as this area is a popular end of summer destination.
