How We Met

Steve and Lauren were both studious college students, spending their Friday night at Murph’s Study Hall. Okay... Murph’s Study Hall was actually the local bar at York College.

Steve was breaking it down on the dance floor, when Lauren caught a glimpse of him. She decided to join him on the dance floor for a dance. Throughout the rest of the night, they shared a few drinks, continued to dance and make each other laugh.

By the end of the night, Steve had enough liquid courage and asked Lauren for her number. From that night on, the rest was history!

The Proposal

Steve was in Germany for a week for a work conference and my sister (Court) and myself decided to go out there and meet him to vacation for a week. On Monday, May 22, we decided to visit the Eagle's Nest. The Eagles Nest was about a 2 hour ride, however, Steve was driving 130 MPH on the autobahn, and we made it way quicker. The day was COMPLETELY normal. We got in the car, and I was supposed to be in charge of navigating. I was a great co-pilot and gave Steve wonderful directions, even though he'll tell you otherwise. We turned down a curvy road and drove up a very STEEP hill in a manual car, I thought for sure we would drift backwards. We got onto the bus, because it was too snowy to hike up the mountain, and drove up to the top where the Eagles Nest was. Once we got up there, we were amazed at the view. One side of the mountain was covered in snow and the other was clear. We walked toward the side of the mountain to look at the view and Courtney and Steve were RUNNING, JUMPING and messing around off the side of the ledge, taking pictures and having a good time. I attempted to go out where they were both playing, but the second I looked over the edge and saw NOTHING at the bottom, I freaked out. This is where I discovered I am afraid of heights. I wanted to get a cool picture off the edge, but could not go more than 1 foot off onto the rock. We walked a bit further down to a rock that was not sticking out quite as much. I was able to get onto that rock and look over top and wasn’t as frightened as before. We were all taking pictures of the views and then Steve asked me to get a picture with him. He NEVER asks for a picture. As I gave Courtney a phone to take a picture of us on, Steve was already down on one knee when I turned back around... FOOT hanging off the edge. He asked me to marry him, and naturally I cried. I don't even think I answered him because all I wanted him to do was stand up so he wouldn't fall off the edge. He said "are you going to answer me?" I said YES and he finally stood up! SOO unexpected & by far the best day ever!!!
