In November 2020, Lauren and David swiped right on destiny when they matched on the dating app, Hinge. After engaging in lively conversations for a few weeks, they decided to finally meet for their first date at Zócalo, a popular Mexican restaurant in Sacramento.

Despite the challenges posed by the prevailing COVID conditions, Lauren and David hit it off from the get-go and they bonded over their mutual passion for helping others, and of course, food.

Being cautious, Lauren and David took things slow and continued to casually date. They spent the next four months getting to know each other. In March of 2021, David took the plunge and asked Lauren to take the next step in their relationship, and they became official.

After a year of dating, Lauren, her two cats, and David moved-in together. Quickly, the four became a family (and David became a cat-person). They spent the next two years cultivating their partnership, creating core memories, and sharing adventures with one another.

On September 1, 2023, Lauren and David went to the Firehouse Restaurant to celebrate David’s birthday, or so she thought. Little did Lauren know, David had other plans in mind. David surprised Lauren with a heartfelt declaration of his affection and dropped to one knee to propose. To Lauren's delight, he revealed a hidden surprise: their families and a few of their closest friends gathered in the restaurant's wine cellar, ready to commemorate their engagement.
