Lauren and Matt “met” 15 years ago at Bonita High School, but their story doesn’t start there. While they had a few mutual friends, they ultimately resided in different social circles and grad years, but knew of one another through high school sports.
The two really reconnected through Lauren’s sorority big sister at UCLA, who has been one of Matt’s closest family friends for many years. While timing was never quite right for the two, eight short years later, in December of 2019, Lauren decided to go on a trip to Austin, where Matt had just moved for work. There must have been something in the hot water at IHOP on Rainey Street at 3am, because after the trip, they realized that there might be a spark worth investigating.
At the start of 2020, the pandemic caused everybody to rethink their relationships and who they valued having in their close circle the most. Lauren and Matt decided that they fell into that bucket for each other, and Matt made the decision to move back to California to see things through. Turns out it was a good bet because about two years later, on October 15th, 2022, Matt asked Lauren to marry him and Lauren said yes!
The two recently purchased their first home in Claremont, where they work from home the majority of the time; Lauren leading the charge to EV adoption in California as a project manager, and Matt in business operations at a smaller tech company.
Their love and support of one another has remained a constant over the past several years and they are excited to see where the next leg of their journey takes them!
They can't wait to celebrate with you on April 27th!
