Like many modern romances, ours began with a swipe — but what followed was anything but ordinary. We met on Bumble and instantly clicked. After chatting for a few days and discovering how much we had in common, Kevin was thrilled to learn that Lauren was no stranger to the baseball field — playing nearly every day of the week. That competitive edge definitely caught his attention. Our first date? A meat raffle…with Kevin’s parents. Yep, you read that right. Untraditional? Maybe. Perfect icebreaker? Absolutely. From that day on, we were inseparable. We spent more and more time together and quickly realized how strong our connection really was. It didn’t take long — just a week, in fact — for Kevin to say those three big words: “I love you.” And he meant it. Nearly a year later, we moved in together, and Kevin lovingly let Lauren transform the apartment into Santa’s Workshop (Christmas is kind of her thing). That same year, our little family grew by four paws when we brought home our sweet pup, Winifred Rose. One of our biggest shared dreams has always been to visit every Major League Baseball stadium in the U.S. We started checking them off our list, starting with Cincinnati to see the Yankees vs. the Reds, followed by an unforgettable trip to Fenway in Boston-where Lauren respectfully cheered in enemy territory (for the away team to crush the Red Sox). We’ve made our way to Yankee Stadium for Old Timers’ Day and even got to see the one and only Derek Jeter — Lauren’s first love (don’t worry, Kevin knows and laughs about it… mostly). From baseball stadiums to balloon rallies, our adventures have taken us everywhere — even to places we’d both been our whole lives without knowing it. One of those places? The Wellsville Balloon Rally, a hometown tradition we’d both attended since childhood, just never at the same time. So when Kevin was planning the moment, he knew exactly where it had to happen. A year and a half after we met, during the Wellsville Main Street Festival, Kevin and Lauren walked hand-in-hand, while Lauren had no idea he and her sister Paige had been ring shopping. That evening, Kevin told Lauren they were going to fly in a hot air balloon — but Mother Nature had other plans. Winds were too strong to fly, but that didn’t stop Kevin. Instead, he led Lauren inside the grounded balloon, held her hands, dropped to one knee, and said: “You said you wanted to be upgraded — will you marry me?” Through happy tears, Lauren said yes! Surrounded by family and friends, the night was filled with hugs, laughter, and love. Now, we’re so excited to celebrate our next big adventure — a Christmas wedding filled with warmth, joy, and all the people we love most. And after that? We can’t wait to begin our lives together — traveling, going it more baseball games, playing pickleball, cheering at Bandits and Sabres games,and, of course, yelling Go Bills! every chance we get.
