Our Wedding

Lauren and Aaron first met at a mutual friend’s wedding in Louisville on June 4, 2022. Lauren was a bridesmaid in her college roommate Madison Duff’s wedding. Aaron, meanwhile, was a friend of Madison’s from residency. He attended the wedding not knowing anyone other than the bride and groom– which turned out to be the best decision he ever made! When couples were summoned to the dance floor, Aaron noticed that the bridesmaid he had met earlier headed to refill her wine glass. He followed suit to strike up a conversation. They instantly hit it off, and after spending the evening chatting, Aaron planned an afterparty to spend more time with Lauren. Eventually the night ended, and Lauren headed home to finish last minute packing with her movers scheduled to arrive first thing in the morning. The pair planned to get brunch together, but Lauren’s move took longer than anticipated. Aaron obtained a late checkout from his hotel and decided to stick around. Amidst the movers unpacking, Lauren invited Aaron over for takeout at her new house. This unconventional first date went so well that the two of them began traveling between Louisville and Cincinnati. Over the next year and a half, the pair embraced their shared love of adventure. They hiked at Red River Gorge and Camelback Mountain, canoed the Boundary Waters, and rode camels in the Sahara Desert. They followed these adventures with a trip to Thailand for the holidays. Little did Lauren know, Aaron had planned more than just a travel itinerary. An engagement ring was buried deep in his backpack, and with each airport checkpoint, Aaron prayed that the TSA agents wouldn’t search his bag. The ring survived the travel undetected, and it soon arrived at a Thai elephant sanctuary.&nbsp; The pair spent their night at the sanctuary in a rustic cabin overlooking the jungle. Knowing he would be proposing that morning, Aaron woke up early and finalized his plan. When Lauren finally woke up, she briefly wondered why he had combed his hair prior to their morning walk with the elephants. After extensive urging to “check out the view” (she’s not a morning person), Lauren finally headed out to the balcony. Aaron had nearly dropped down to one knee when Lauren pulled out a hairbrush to continue her morning routine. Knowing that they were on a strict schedule to walk the elephants, Aaron proposed as soon as she put her brush away. Lauren said yes, and the two of them spent the remainder of their trip celebrating the engagement. We can’t wait to celebrate again on our wedding day with our friends and family in May!
