How We Met - At Our Friends' Wedding

We grew up together in Marlboro a grade apart, but actually never spoke despite the fact that Robbie had a secret crush on Lauren in High School. It wasn't until each of our best friends, Mike and Emily Tbaum, planned to tie their own knot that fate brought us together.

There is still disagreement about who decided to sit next to who at the Rehersal dinner, but nonetheless we sat next to each other and it was a great chance to get to know one another. Of course, we hit it off discussing candy, dessert and Haribo gummy bears. After a kick ass speech by Robbie, Lauren was officially "interested." Then she stole a mushroom from his main course, partially because she wanted it, but partially to flirt. Robbie noticed.

Later that night, while at the hotel bar post-Rehersal dinner, a bag of Haribo's surfaced. A few drinks in, Robbie felt like playing some long toss with the gummy bears. His first target was Lauren. Sitting across the table from him, he swished the bear into her mouth on the first try. Although she almost choked to death, it was a true connection in many senses. Robbie laid it on thick at the end of the night, but Lauren resisted both of their temptations.

The next day, Robbie was locked in for what he thought was a good weekend fling. While taking wedding party pictures prior to the reception, Robbie asked if we could choose who we walked down the aisle with. Everyone knew what he was asking. At the time, the answer was no. But when he asked again in May 2015, the answer was different.

The rest of the Tbaum's wedding is quite hazy, but it included many shots of Tequila, a kiss at the end of the wedding and more kissing teen tour style on the bus back to the hotel.

We both struggled to get down to the Sunday morning breakfast, and parted ways when we got there. But I think we already knew something might be going on here...

The Proposal - A New Kind of Couples Massage

Many of you know how much we love Atlantic City. We like to go "once a quarter" because it really feels like you're on vacation for a night (and so Lauren can scratch her 3-card poker itch). Therefore, it wasn't unusual that we were going down there on May 16, 2015.

We had actually both been sick that week and so Robbie "decided" to get Lauren a massage at their hotel. Little did she know what was in store...

Half hour into the massage, there was a knock on the door to Lauren's massage room. She unsuspectingly thought it was a fresh set of towels or the like. Even when the massage suddenly got a little rougher, she was not alarmed. I guess 30 minutes into a message, you're basically half sleeping anyway, right?

After several minutes of coughing, the masseuse said "You should really get that checked out..." Lauren thought the voice was deep for a women, and very familiar. When she turned over, it was Robbie rubbing her down. Totally disoriented, she asked him what he was doing there. He threw her a sappy line, got down and popped the big question.

That wasn't the only surprise Robbie had lined up though. After sharing that special moment and getting herself together at the spa, they headed back to their heavily decorated hotel room to call family and friends. They called Lauren's mom, sister and brother to start and then Robbie's mom. One by one, they acted shocked and told us they couldn't wait to celebrate the following weekend when we had plans to be in Marlboro. They did a great job disarming Lauren considering they were all already in the hotel and in the same room!

At 8pm we went down for dinner at Wolfgang Pucks and checked in for a party of 2. The hostess walked us to the back of the restaurant, where in a back room, our families were waiting to celebrate with us. Needless to say, Lauren was shocked for the 2nd time that day. Our families shared a wonderful dinner together, a late night at the card tables and brunch the next morning in what will be remembered as a most special weekend in our lives.
