Our Story

A country girl and a city boy fall for each other

Picture of A country girl and a city boy fall for each other
Told from Lauren’s perspective: Tom and I went to the same elementary school all the way through High School but did not officially meet until we worked together at Kennie's Markets in Spring Grove, PA. We were friends for 3 years before we started on our unexpected journey to a love that "is deeper the the holler." Over the next five years we shared too many times to count of laughing until our bellies hurt. November 16, 2016 we moved into our first apartment together and then in March 2017, through help from my bridesmaid, Courtney - we found our second apartment which was closer to our families. Throughout our entire time together we spoke of a wedding one day but our families always joked that it wouldn't happen until we were in our 60's. But the summer/fall of 2017, after getting another year closer to 30, we started talking more serious about it. I, not so discretely was very excited! So to wrap up our never ending love story, I'll leave you with what initiated the next chapter.. Tom and I share a love for Halloween and the Autumn season. We planned on going to his parent's annual Halloween party as 2 characters from The Firth Element. I was to go as Leeloo, who has orange hair and wear an orange silicone harness and Tom as Ruby Rhod - who wears a leopard jumpsuit and rocks a blonde Afro. After buying all the necessities for their costumes, Tom said that he changed his mind and wanted to go as Korben Dallas. I, being my normal oblivious self, and not having a clue what was to come, tried to fight him and begged him to be Ruby Rhod because he does a perfect impression. After days of begging , i gave up and we went to the store and bought the items needed for a Korben Dallas costume. The day of the party came, I worked on the costumes all day and we were about to leave and Tom was saying how good our costumes looked, so good that he "would wear the costumes for our engagement pictures.” I laughed it off and didn't think anything of it but he was just hinting at the night ahead! So we get to the party, hang out with both of our families and friends for a couple hours until Tom’s dad, Bill gathers everyone around saying how he had an announcement <---insert my extremely confused face here--- I'm thinking "I didn't know about an announcement!" But then.... Tom interrupts, starts getting into that "down on one knee" position and everything starts to click. My face changed from confusion to BEST DAY EVER shocked look!!! (HAHA to our sister’s who made a bet that I would ugly cry when Tom proposed!) We got engaged October 28, 2017 and decided to meet each other at the end of the aisle on October 13, 2018, because why wait? We can’t wait to share our love with our family and friends.
