Our wedding is on the same day as the Block Party in downtown Iowa City which means The Graduate parking ramp may be full. If it is full, please park in one of the other parking ramps downtown - Clinton St, Dubuque St, or Court St.For our guests arriving on Saturday, please factor in extra parking time to your travel.

"Marrying Your Best Friend" is the title of Lauren and Braden's story. 9 years in each others' lives and over 5 years of dating, this love story dates back to 2015 when the couple met as teammates on the Z3 triathlon team. The two spent a lot of time together in the summers of 2016 and 2017 when they both lived in Des Moines, IA. Even though Braden lived in Iowa and Lauren went home to Minnesota, they stayed good friends. In 2018, Lauren started attending the University of Iowa where Braden was already studying exercise science. They had the same major and similar interests so continued to hang out - riding bikes, studying, tailgating, and creating one big friend group. The couple began dating in January 2019 during a trip to Steamboat Springs, CO. Fast forward a couple years, Lauren graduated college while Braden moved away for medical sales opportunities post-graduation. They were thrilled when Braden's job eventually landed him back in Iowa City. The couple moved in together before Lauren began pursuing her Master's degree. On June 10th, 2024, they got engaged at Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park. Supporting each others' athletic endeavors, spending time with family and friends, and traveling together are just a few things the couple has always enjoyed. Lauren and Braden have experienced many seasons of life together and are so excited to continue making memories for the rest of their lives!

Host Hotel

Lauren and Braden would love for all guests to stay at the host hotel, if possible. The Graduate Hotel is located in the heart of downtown Iowa City, meaning easy and safe access to the welcome party and wedding after-party. Wedding transportation will be available for guests to/from The Graduate and Walker Homestead. See further details below.

Graduate Iowa City

Wedding Transportation 

We want our guests to celebrate accordingly (and responsibly)! Busses to transport wedding guests will be available. You are not required to utilize this transportation, but please note parking on site is very limited. Please plan to be to Walker Homestead by 4:00pm, regardless of how to choose to get there.Shuttles from The Graduate to our venue: 2:30, 3:00, 3:30 (PM)Shuttles from our venue to The Graduate: 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30 (PM)The parking garage attached to The Graduate Hotel is available for all guests to use, even if you choose not to stay at The Graduate but would still like to utilize wedding transportation.

Getting to Iowa City

Out of town guests may choose to fly into Cedar Rapids, Iowa (CID). This airport is ~25 minutes from downtown Iowa City. Ubers and Lyfts are typically available and relatively cheap.

Activity Options 

Visit all the cute shops in downtown Iowa City. Some of our favorites include Beno's for plants and gifts, Raygun for all things Iowa, and Heim if you're into the hippy stuff like Lauren is.Explore the University of Iowa campus, Lauren and Braden's alma mater. The Old Capitol is the shiny gold building located in the center of the Pentacrest. Down the hill you can find the library and Iowa Memorial Union. Our favorite building is the Art Building West, which is down the hill, as well.Take a walk along the river! Enjoy Friday evening music on the pedestrian mall. Visit the Farmers' Market on Saturday morning on E. Washington St. near the Chauncey.Golf at Finkbine Golf Course, the same golf course Lauren's dad, Todd, and his friends golfed the morning of his and Cindy's wedding here in Iowa City.
