They first met during the pandemic when Brett started working at Strake Jesuit as a math teacher with Lauren. While they were friends right away, rocking many a karaoke night together, it took two years for them to realize that maybe there was something more to each other than just a friend.

At the start of Labor Day weekend in 2022, after a work party, Brett decided to go for it. To his surprise, Lauren agreed to go on an actual date with him. By the end of the date, a few burgers, and the classic, "what are we" question, it was decided that this would be the beginning of their relationship together.

They spent the next year growing and laughing together through adventures, game nights, dancing, and late-night grading. Brett then surprised Lauren by proposing to her at the start of their Thanksgiving break, on November 20th, 2023 during a walk on the picturesque beaches of Galveston, Texas.

They are now looking forward to celebrating the joining of their lives with their friends and family this upcoming July 13th.
