Our wedding will be outside on a big grassy lawn at a mountain resort! Feel free to dress in "garden attire" - a short dress for women and pants and a button down for men. No need to wear a suit or a fancy dress. But please avoid wearing all black, as this is a funeral color in Thailand. Since the ceremony and reception will be on grass, please plan your shoes accordingly.
What will the weather be like?
In December in Thailand it is considered the "winter" season. That means lows can get down to the low 60s and highs in the 80s. It shouldn't rain and it should be very pleasant weather, especially in Chiang Mai!
Where should we stay?
Over the wedding weekend, Friday December 6th and Saturday, December 7th, I would like to help you book a room at a hotel close to the venue and provide transportation by vans to the venue. Please reach out to me (Lauren), or my mom, if you would like us to help you get a room in one of the hotels close by!
Outside of the wedding weekend, if you plan to come early or stay longer, there are lots of great hotels in Chiang Mai that its hard to even choose one for you! Feel free to reach out for advice, but it's hard to go wrong if you find a highly rated hotel in the city.
How do you get around in Chiang Mai?
Visitors to Chiang Mai can get taxis from the airport to your hotel, and your hotel can likely help you call a taxi at any time. In some parts of the city there are red trucks and "tuk tuks" that serve as public transportation as well, but the drivers may not speak fluent English. You can also download an app similar to Lyft or Uber called "Grab" and you can call a driver to come pick you up and take you around that way. If you are feeling really adventurous you can rent a car, but be aware that you drive on the left side of the road here!
