Amy Lakevold - Maid of Honour
My live in bestie, and my only sister was the easiest choice I made. She truly is the best person I could ask for to be my maid of honour. Amy is my younger sister and has always been there for me, to support me, and to call me out. She wouldn't think twice to tell me how it is or put me in my place (even in public and in front of all my friends), but I would say that is one of the things I admire most about her. We grew up sharing a room with twin beds on either side, and would stay up all night jumping from side to side giggling all night until John or Debbie would come in telling us to go to sleep. We would stay up till 3 am playing house or keeping our Nintendogs alive. Our life together was not without blood, scars and tears but I wouldn't ask for anything different because I know it's made us who we are today, and the reason we are both standing up together. I couldn't ask for a better maid of honour.
Caitlyn Volcan - Bridesmaid
Caitlyn was my very first friend ever! We are less than a year apart and literally grew up together. We spent every summer together at grandmas house, playing in the backyard, climbing on the roof, and making elaborate schemes to fool our grandma to get candy from the gas station across the street. Since then, she has always been there for me, a reality check, a honest opinion and a great persuader that I will wear those shoes enough for the price. We have always shared similar interests including our crazy trip to see Taylor swift in Europe, taking a day trip to London, and only taking a duffle bag for a week and a half around France. And I could not ask for a better person to do all of that with. There is always a story and never a dull moment with her. She is the kindest and has the biggest heart and I can 't wait to have her stand beside me.
Lauren Brown - Bridesmaid
I truly believe that I was meant to play soccer at Augustana just so I could meet Lauren. We met at my second year in undergraduate, and we haven't looked back. Honestly, I feel grateful that her mom didn't forbid her from being my friend after stealing wine from her collection to sneak into a bar in Camrose the first night we met. We spent most of our time laughing and joking around, and definitely not studying and practicing. Which is probably a big reason why she left early to pursue her calling to be the best NICU nurse. Before she left, we would always find ourselves at parties singing along to the same Selena Gomez song on repeat until someone got mad and took our privileges away. We were always roommates on away trips because no-one else wanted to bunk with us as we would sing the Zoey 101 theme song all night long... I think we have a problem... but I could not have asked for a better person to be doing it with. Now we can't go very long without meeting up for dog walks regularly. I can not wait to have you stand beside me.
Kennedy Brezinski - Bridesmaid
I can't even remember when I met Kennedy because she has always been one of my closest friends, and I can't think of a time without her. She is innocently sweet, kind, and funny. We take a trip almost every summer up to the lake where we endlessly gossip, lounge on the boat, and where she convinces me to do all the things she doesn't want to do by herself. I have endured plenty of whiplash tubing with her, but it is always worth it with our endless laughing while going through it. I love that we turn into professional mixologists trying to create new drinks that doesn't kill us because we don't know the appropriate amount of mix and alcohol to put in. But, I would say one of my favourite things is our monthly(ish) dinner dates where we catch up on all the gossip and I get to hear how successful she is by absolutely killing it as a business woman! She is the busiest person on this planet but always makes sure she makes time for me, and I couldn't have asked for a better friend. I am so excited to have her up with me.
Etta Brezinski - Flower Girl
This little ray of sunshine is one of the funniest 4 yr olds, and I can't wait to have her spicy personality use my aisle as her own runway.
Kash Lakevold - Ring Bearer
I am blessed to have Kash as my nephew. He is so smart and funny and I am so excited to see him strut down the aisle in his suit (hopefully not paired with a cowboy hat and boots, but there is no negotiating with a 4 yr old)
Nick Harder - Best Man
Nick and I have been best buddies since we first played on the same hockey team together at 7 years old. We've got to experience a lot together since then, having played on five other hockey teams together, going through Junior High, High school and University together, travelling through Europe on two separate occasions and a lot more in between. I'd like to say we've grown up a lot as well since our early days but that just isn't true as our conversations to this day still consist of a lot of dumb movie and Family Guy quotes. You can always count on Nick for a good story, and for a good laugh. But most importantly, you can count on him to be a good friend. He likely will be the first person on the dance floor, and the last person to leave (and probably the sweatiest). It's an honour to have Nick as my best man, a decision that was made a long time ago.
Stefan Danielson - Groomsman
Stefan, or Stef for short (or sometimes known as Big Titties), originates from the far away land of Red Deer, Alberta. Stef and I met after I was traded to Camrose in our 20 year old season of Junior hockey. We quickly became close friends even though he told the coach he didn't want to be roommates with me. We then continued on to play together at MacEwan University for the next 3 seasons and retired from hockey at the same time. We have stayed close since, having gone on multiple camping and skiing trips, running a marathon together (I seemed to have misplaced my participation medal), and most recently, he came to Amsterdam with Laurie to visit me. I'm very excited and honoured to have Stef stand by me on this day.
Ben Carroll - Groomsman
Ben and I originally met while going to Elementary school in Sherwood Park but we really became close while playing Bantam and Midget hockey together. During these years, when we were not at the rink, we (along with Nick) enjoyed our common interest of shit disturbing in our local neighbourhoods and playing 3 on 0 basketball drawing up sweet ways to alley oop. After high school, Ben and I got busy playing junior hockey in different cities where up to this day Ben has taken his talents across the pond to Europe and now down in the US of A and I've taken my talents to being a professional bean counter. With all this time apart, I don't get to see Ben nearly enough, but when I do it's like we never skipped a beat. Ben isn't necessarily the loudest guy in the room but his witty humour will have you in stitches. It's an honour to have Ben stand by me.
Braden Hughes - Groomsman
Braden (or Huggie for short) and I met while playing Bantam hockey in Sherwood Park. While Braden and I only played one year of hockey together at the age of 14, we have remained close ever since. He lives true to his nickname of Huggie as he is a gentle giant and also gives the best hugs. By day, Huggie is one of Edmonton's finest advisors of all things finance and insurance, and by night, he has recently taken up the hobby of beer league goaltending (currently competing in a tryout against a shooter tutor). Huggie is one of the funniest guys I know and is known to make me cry laughing pretty much every time we are together with his impressions and sayings that I will not put in writing on here. He’s a guy that would do anything for his friends and aside from having a great sense of humour, he is an all around great human being. It’s an honour to have Huggie stand by me on this day.
