Mike and I met on online on Plenty of Fish. The very first message he sent me was all about travel and we spent the whole afternoon messaging about travel and different details about our life. I went to dinner with some girlfriends that night and I called Mike as soon as I was done and we spoke for hours on the phone (little did I know he didn't like talking on the phone). That night when we got off the phone I messaged him saying I couldn't wait to meet him in person, we decided to meet the next day for Starbucks.
The next day I was so excited to meet him. Mike of course was 15 minutes early to our date while I am coming in on two wheels right on time lol. We got our drinks and decided to go walking and sit on a bench in the vista instead of sitting in Starbucks. We sat there on our shit bench as I have nicknamed it basically saying all the fun and not so fun things going on in our life. We were straight up blunt and honest and neither one of us still to this day knows how to sugar coat things (no wonder we make a perfect team). I was hoping our coffee date was a dinner date so it could last longer and the other part of me was thinking I might have scared this man away.
The next day (Thursday) Mike sent me a message to see if I was free. I told him I couldn't due to the fact I was moving this coming weekend and I had a lot of things to pack.
The next day (Friday) Mike messaged to see if I was free. I told him I wasn't that I was packing up my car to move to my sisters house. He messaged me back saying, "I have a truck". I was like no you are not going to help me move as our second date. But if you know Mike at all he is very persistent and the next thing I knew he was at my house loading up my stuff in his truck. After he helped me move most of my things to my sisters house the least I could do was take him to dinner. So our first dinner was at Pontiac House of Pizza.
On Saturday I was so busy with the Carolina Cup and a Kenny concert that night I told Mike I could not see him today. Well Mike messaged me through out the day wanting to see me again. So I ended up at his house after the concert to see him.
On Sunday I had to finish moving my stuff out of my apartment thank goodness with my brothers help. Mike asked if he could take me on a date Monday night and I said yes. Monday night Mike took me to dinner at Travinia's restaurant and it was amazing. Since this night we have been together and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I decided to put my two weeks notice in at my job because I had received an offer to a job that I could not say no too and it was so much closer to home! When I put in my two weeks notice I was first informed I would have to work the 2 weeks. Later that day I was in a meeting about my 2 week noticed and it did not go very well and I decided after getting spoken too like that I would not be working my 2 weeks notice so I packed up my office and left. The next day Mike and I decided that since we have 2 weeks before I started my new job that we would go on a road trip so we went and rented a car, Mike planned out where we would stay and left the next day for our road trip (Saturday). Our first stop was Charlotte, NC for a night and then we drove to Springfield, OH to visit with Mike's dad for a couple of days.
Then it was off to Niagara Falls Canada (my first time to Canada). I was so excited to be able to go to Niagara Falls we did the American side first before we drove over to the Canada side. It was a cold and rainy day but that did not stop us from exploring and site seeing. We were having the best day and I had no idea how good it was going to get. That afternoon we went to the local Brewery and had some beers and a snack. We always try to ask locals which restaurants to go to and one of the bartenders suggested that we go to Winekeller for dinner. Mike looked it up and it ended up being the top restaurant to eat at out of like 1,000. So we decided to go back to our hotel and get ready for dinner. We went to dinner at the Winekeller and it was a 5 course meal so we decided to splurge and get appetizers and wine which was made at the restaurant and entrees with dessert! It was the best meal I have ever had in my life! And it was hands down the best steak Mike had ever had! The chef came out to meet us and it was just a all around delicious experience and the wine was amazing too! Mike and I are huge foodies so it was just perfect for us. I thought we would head back to the hotel due to it being misty rain but Mike said no we have to go walk down the to the waterway. I had no idea but Canada lights up the falls at night and it changes colors as you are walking down by the waterway. It was so romantic with the falls all lite up and holding Mike's hand as we walked through the park. I was in heaven (I am such a hopeless romantic). As we were walking back to the hotel Mike stopped in front of the American Falls and got down on one knee and said, "Let's keep this party going." and he pulls out a huge beautiful ring. I was saying yes as I was jumping up and down and twirling around and kissing the love of my life!! I was shocked I had no idea that we would be on this trip much less that he was planning to propose. Mike loves to do things when people least expect it and that he did! He had my beautiful sapphire ring for 2 months waiting for the perfect time to ask me! Boy did he knock it out of the park. I am the luckiest girl in the world to have Mike as my life partner! He always promies me I will never be bored!
