Laurinda and Osazuwa met on a New York City night on September 23rd, 2017, through mutual friends. On the rooftop of Jimmy’s at James, the two hit it off instantly. Laurinda felt like she could be her authentic self. His smile was contagious; all he did was make her laugh. As for Osazuwa, he was smitten. All he wanted was to get to know Laurinda and be around her.

Not knowing what was in store for them, Laurinda and Osazuwa took a leap of faith and decided to meet up again the following night. It only took one month for them to make their romantic relationship exclusive and official.

The couple began to travel together, going to places such as the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, and one of their favorite destinations, Algarve, Portugal. As they grew closer, they discovered that they had many shared values and interests, such as a thirst for traveling and experiencing new places, a passion for fashion and individual expression, an appreciation and pride for their respective cultures, a deep faith and trust in God and the higher powers –and most importantly a profound love for and unwavering commitment to their families and friends.

By August 2019, the couple decided to take their relationship to even higher heights by moving in with one another and settling into a beautiful apartment in Flatbush, Brooklyn.

It did not take long for Osazuwa to realize that in Laurinda he had found a partner in love, life and laughter. With their third-year anniversary coming up, Osazuwa saw this special day as the perfect moment to propose to Laurinda.

On October 31st, 2020, Osazuwa plotted with both families to orchestrate a surprise proposal to the love of his life. While the couple went out to dinner to celebrate their anniversary, the families accessed the apartment (unbeknownst to Laurinda) and swiftly set the stage. Upon entering the apartment, she quickly noticed that someone else had been inside after they left for dinner. Osazuwa reassuringly led her to a candle-lit living room where she would be surrounded with loved ones and a slideshow chronologically taking her down memory lane– from the first time they met to the adventures they had experienced together–all setting up the scene for the new one they would be embarking on.

As the slideshow ended, Osazuwa turned to Laurinda, dropped to one knee and asked Laurinda if she would become his wife. Overwhelmed with joy and love, Laurinda said Yes. She too knew she had found her partner in love, life and laughter.
