We are so excited to share what we love so much about our beautiful home of Colorado. Please remember, we will be getting married at 9,700 feet. It will be important to acclimate, and we highly recommend coming to Denver a day or two early if life allows! Come to celebrate the 4th in or around the city. Explore the local breweries that we love so much, catch a Rockie's vs. BREWERS game, visit the town of Golden/Coors Brewery tour, check out Red Rocks Amphitheater and the town of Morrison (Lauryn's favorite), and drink LOTS of water! If you have the time, on your way to or from the venue consider stopping for lunch and shopping in Idaho Springs or make a reservation to drive up Mt Evans, one of Colorado's 58 peaks over 14,000 feet (Ben's favorite). We have favorite hikes of all intensity levels and can't wait to share our favorite to-do's!
Brewers were in town the day after we became engaged, so of course we had to attend! *** Coors field puts on a great fireworks show on the fourth! ***
Chicago Lakes trail, just next to Mt. Evans. The perfect day trip outside of Denver, with hiking of different intensities available! Moose and big horn sheep frequently spotted in the area. This is a fun trip to tack onto the front end or back end of the wedding weekend. One could easily spend a whole day hiking the lakes, driving up Mt Evans, and perusing Idaho Springs!
Idaho Springs
Our favorite view while driving up Mt. Evans!
Alternatively, spend a day in and around Denver and visit Golden, CO! Golden is Colorado's first capitol. Visit Coors for a tour, then walk across the street and have a beer and BBQ at the Golden Mill. Don't forget to try their New Zealand style ice cream, which alone is worth the drive to Golden! Take your ice cream to go and watch the locals tube down the Clear Creek.
Swing by Red Rocks after you've enjoyed a day in Golden! There are walking trails surrounding the venue.
Each corner of Colorado is unique and has something lovely to offer. Should you decide to take a longer visit out and turn this trip into your summer vacation, please allow us to help with recommendations! Whether you'd like to see Rocky Mountain National Park, continue on past Jefferson to visit Buena Vista (one of our favorites!) or Crested Butte, or hang out in Breckenridge after the wedding weekend, we are full of tips for these trips! Colorado has endless beauty to share and we can't wait to show off why we both have decided to make this state our home. <3
