On a cold and snowy Saturday in January 2022, Layle and Kyle met while attending the wedding of mutual friends (thanks for getting married Stephanie and Derek!). After many hours spent on the dance floor Kyle asked Layle if he could come visit her in Kansas City sometime. Layle agreed but it would be several more weeks before Kyle finally came to visit.

Kyle's first weekend in Kansas City is one Layle likes to forget, since it ended in the Chiefs losing the AFC Championship Game to the Bengals. Despite the rough loss (Kyle had put money on the Bengals...), Layle must have won Kyle over with some Oklahoma Joe's and a trip to Boulevard. Kyle would be back for another visit just a couple weeks later.

After more miles in the car then Layle or Kyle wish to calculate (thank you to anyone who talked to us on our drives), Layle made the move to Griswold in October 2023. The winter was spent winning over Kyle's two cats, Cookie and Carter, and adjusting to life in a town of 900.

In June, Layle and Kyle travelled back to Kansas City for their favorite summer event, Jazzoo. Before the event, Stacia, Layle's best friend, had arranged for pre-event drinks with another friend at Union Station. Layle was definitely not excited about this plan because she did not think they had enough time. What Layle did not know is that this plan was fake and actually Kyle was planning to propose.
